Pathfinder: Kingmaker Unloads Its Features With A Bit More Gameplay

Pathfinder: Kingmaker

A new trailer for Pathfinder: Kingmaker is here and it goes over some of the gameplay features as well as the elements it will bring from the base Pathfinder: Kingmaker version

Last year we had a chance to watch as the Pathfinder: Kingmaker Kickstarter campaign fired off and then was a huge success almost doubling what the team over at Owlcat Games was looking for to bring it into existence. Being a fan of the tabletop version of the game and the specific adventure path, I was amped to see that it was going to be a thing and in similar veins of Baldur’s Gate with all of the political intrigue I have grown to love. Now we have our first real taste of just how this version of Pathfinder: Kingmaker has progressed and all of the extra features we are going to be getting in the final game with more as time presses on. At least if it is a successful title on the PC as many hope it to be.

Before now, it was safe to assume that Pathfinder: Kingmaker was going to have a wide array of characters and classes to play even if not the full run of what is currently in the system. We will be able to select between fourteen different classes with three different archetypes each. Depending on those archetypes this could bring the different classes up to forty-two but that is if they use some of the truly altering ones. This may not be the case as some could be hard to code for. We will have to wait and see, but I am sure we can figure out the bases ones that will work for this version of Pathfinder: Kingmaker right now.

In addition to that, we will have up to eleven different companions to join in our story. All of which will have their own story to tell in Pathfinder: Kingmaker if we so choose to go down those paths, but given that we will be able to build relationships it sounds like we could ignore them all together and let that relationship sit idle. That could just be how I am seeing it, but nowhere does Owlcat Games state that as of yet. It is another wait and see kind of thing for now. It would add to the whole dynamic aspect that they are pushing with the game so I would not be surprised if it were an option right out of the gate.

Speaking of dynamic, Pathfinder: Kingmaker will also play host to a dynamic environment with day/night cycles and seasons. Pretty much the standard in games like this. It will also let us be a bit more dynamic based on our character’s selected alignment in the story though with the world being different based on how we choose to rule. Again, something that is in the core version of the franchise, but we can see it in action here in the latest trailer where it makes our capital city look different based on all of that. I was hoping for something a little less ham-fisted though as I could be an Evil ruler who likes to have the appearance of being a “Good” ruler. This kind of just ‘outs’ players without any kind of recourse. Maybe there will be options somewhere.

Currently there is no release date for Pathfinder: Kingmaker that has been set down besides Summer. It is still in process and what we are seeing is from a Beta build of the game. If there will be some form of Beta or Early Access before that has also not been stated. I would venture a guess that it will be later in the summer instead of earlier, but there is nothing solid to base any of that on. All I know is that the wait for Pathfinder: Kingmaker is getting shorter now and I cannot wait to be able to hop in and tell my own story in the game.

Are you excited to see how Pathfinder: Kingmaker has progressed so far and what the team is getting in there for us? Do you think that we will see more classes over time or will we need to rely on the archetypes to make the changes for now? If it all goes well, do you think we will see DLC and updates to expand everything out just a bit further or will we get the base story and nothing more? Let us know down in the comments and then discuss. When we get more for Pathfinder: Kingmaker, you will get more. You just need to keep checking in here to get all of those updates to stay on top of it all.
