The Combat In Assassin’s Creed Origins Will Play Much Different At High Levels

Assassin’s Creed Origins

New gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Origins is here and it shows off just how combat in Assassin’s Creed Origins will play out based on your current level

There are a whole lot of changes coming to the franchise with Assassin’s Creed Origins. We are getting a new leveling and weapons system. We are getting character levels and skill trees. We are also get the ability to traverse the entire map of the game right from the start of it all which is something fairly new with all of Ubisoft‘s open-world titles as of late. In the end though, how does this all boil down and affect Assassin’s Creed Origins? In one way it looks to affect the enemy outposts and missions in the game’s world as you can go to any of them from the start, but you may want to hold off based on your current character level.

It seems the whole world of Assassin’s Creed Origins will not be scaling with you, but it will have set levels and areas in there for us to stumble into. You can see this in the latest video showing off more of the combat just below. The player goes into an area that is one of the “end game” areas of the map and is set to the bare basics of the game just to show how nothing scales. Even assassination attempts fail here even if you are able to sneak up on an unsuspecting enemy. That seems a bit out of place for the setting of an Assassin’s Creed title, but I fully understand it from a game balancing side of things. We cannot have players leaping levels from the start because they are able to sneak through a high-level area and one-hit kill everyone.

We also get to see a bit more on the combat side of things in Assassin’s Creed Origins here as there is a second play-through of the same location with the character being set to the proper levels for the area. Assassinations work as a one-hit two-kill thing if you have the right skills here and the environment is not just something pretty to look at as it can be interacted with and used as well. For instance, if you see a burning torch nearby you can set your arrows on fire with it and fire flaming arrows instead. The enemies can do this two from the looks of it, but it is nice new feature to see Ubisoft mix in for this Assassin’s Creed title.
