There Is Much More To The Look Of God Of War Than We Once Knew

God Of War

New screenshots for God Of War are out there as well as a fun look at how the new looks for God Of War came about from the previous titles

With only two trailers for God Of War being out there currently, the game has already looked to take an interesting turn for the franchise and the character involved. Given the drastic nature of the shift, and the way all those internet fans are, it is no surprise that Santa Monica Studio has been harped on for having a different type of Kratos in the game. I know a lot of people saw the woodsman beard in the first God Of War trailer and gameplay we had and though he was going to be even more grizzled after the ending of the third main game. Of course there are reasons for all of this and it looks like there are a few answers to all of this besides just trying to use all the power that the PS4 currently has.

The long and short of it is that God Of War is a different brainchild at the end of the day that is just carrying on the story of a character fans have been figuring out over six different titles. He was angry and viewed the whole god thing as a horrible thing and was fighting against it. Now he has a son and has passed that “disease” on to him as well and like many parents out there, he sees this as a fault and mistake that is his to burden. Effectively he has “cursed” this child to live as he did or he can make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself. Given that this God Of War isn’t Greek anymore, I am going to guess there will be some redemption in there without the usual tragedy that always follows those stories.

Of course, all of this is based off a few things in a recent interview that was held for God Of War with the game’s director and we all know how information can be shared in those or at least generalized out there. My best guess is that there will be more of a story than just the basic “Kratos moved on and had another child” to bridge the gap between all of the events. I have a feeling it will be in the form of flashback events in God Of War here or maybe a long story from Santa Monica Studio at some point, but it is good to know the ending of all of that and the new beginning. Especially how it ties in with the emotions and feelings that most humans go through and not just because the team wanted to go a different way than before as many have claimed out there.

I will add in that during E3 there was a nice little showing of God Of War during the Colosseum event out there. During it all, there was an interesting sand art show that is supposed to explain a bit of the transition story from the end of the third title to this one. You can see it below, but to me it really didn’t do much to explain anything we already didn’t know. It does shed a bit more light on who the mother or female component of the relationship is in God Of War, but like I said, I have a feeling the bigger story will be in the core game when it finally releases in 2018. Hopefully early 2018.

God Of War — A Saga Borne Of Ash

It is a new beginning for Kratos. Living as a man outside the shadow of the gods, he ventures into the brutal Norse wilds with his son Atreus, fighting to fulfill a deeply personal quest.

Does all of this make more sense to you for God Of War or are you still up in arms on the shift in Kratos’ being? Do you see the father son story better now that you can understand the mindset of Kratos in the game, or do you still want your “I hate everything” version of the guy? Were you able to pull more from the sand art than I did or was it just another pretty show for the game here? Let us and the world know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. As more for God Of War is released and revealed out there, we will do our best to have it all up here. Keep checking in on the site to see it all.
