Huntsman Is Giving The Arachnophobes A Bit More Of A Throwback

Huntsman

New updates for Huntsman have crawled out there, and they give us some fun ways to replay Huntsman again

As if you all weren’t scared enough with Huntsman, new updates have crawled their way out there to add more to the horrors of giant spiders again. Not a thing I would have expected, but it is something that is on the way out there from OnTheHouse Studios. Well, more that it is out there now, with even more updates to the game in the works. True updates and not just bugs that the Huntsman should have eaten before the game launched on the PC. It did a great job before, but gamers always manage to find even more post-launch now. For now, though, let’s focus on the fun bits getting added in with the 1.1 update that you can all grab as soon as you are ready to face those fears once more.

In addition to a bunch of bug fixes for Huntsman and some quality of life changes, this new update brings us some new filters to add to the list that we can play the game with. A 90s VHS grainy one and a Black & White one that will overlay the screen. All so we can have the feeling of some of the creature feature films from back in the day, but it does look as if it will make it harder to spot some of the spiders in the mix of the game. That’s my take from the update that I’ve seen in some of the screenshots for it all so far, but I guess I’ll have to fire up Huntsman to have a solid look at it all instead. The team is giving us all something, so that is a great sign that they still have full faith in the game. So, let’s hope that the updates now and in the future are great enough to see this one crawling into more lives in the near future.

Huntsman — Launch Trailer

Ten Image Publishing and OnTheHouse Studios today launched Update 1.1 for Huntsman, addressing a wide range of areas, including spider behaviour improvements, new visual filters, bug fixes, and more, with two additional updates in the coming months.

Arachnophobes beware. Huntsman. Trapdoor. Orb Weaver. Tarantula. Four nightmares await players as they attempt to escape a research facility in lockdown, in a survival horror not for the faint of heart. Update 1.1 adds new visual overlays to bring players back in time to the 90s or 50s, changes to spider behaviours and threat animations, and more, including a hint about a large upcoming feature in Update 1.2.

Content:

  • Two new visual modes;
    • VHS, a 90s throwback to the days of having to rewind tapes before you brought them back to the rental
    • Horror, a black and white effect inspired by the beloved creature features of the 50s

Quality Of Life:

  • Security cameras in the reception area
  • Updated tarantula threat animations
  • Improved spider behaviours, including reactions to throwable items
  • More throwable items in the kitchen, loading bay, and other areas
  • Spiders can now interact with and move more items around the game
  • Updated spawning points for spiders
  • Added orb weavers to the terrarium
  • Increased the tarantula’s sensitivity to player triggers (twigs snapping, bushes moving, etc.) in the terrarium
  • Sound F/X updates throughout

Bug Fixes:

  • an issue where some areas, such as the office, would have scenery items move out of line (chairs, computer monitors, etc)
  • reports of huntsman occasionally becoming inactive in the lab area, after respawning
  • an issue where player quest logs would not update after exiting the terrarium
  • a rare instance of Key Items forcing a player to slightly jump backwards when collected
  • broken door in the lab area, near the neurotoxin mixer
  • rare instances of the tarantula not respawning after player death in the terrarium
  • Addressed issues with the spider rotation on spawn

Will these new filters have you back playing Huntsman one more time? Will they make it much harder to spot the spiders from a distance, as it already was? Will we get more spiders in the future added to it all? Will we be able to see this one land on the consoles in the near future? Let’s talk it all out in the comments below. I do love me a good spider game, so I’ll be watching out for more as it comes to Huntsman. If you don’t want to get scared by the surprise news, you should watch the site and all of our socials to have a better idea of when all of this is going to crawl into your world. It also manages to help us out over here as well. We all win.
