Alone In The Dark: Illumination Has A Nice Dark Trailer Now

Alone In The Dark: Illumination

A new trailer for Alone In The Dark: Illumination has been released with a bit of information on the gameplay for this iteration of the game

It’s been seven years since the last time we were able to be Alone In The Dark, in game terms. Now we have Alone In The Dark: Illumination coming and a brand new teaser for the new and sixth installment to the franchise. This time around using the Unreal 4 engine and including co-op play. In fact the whole game looks to be slated as a four player co-op experience that will have specific story paths for each character class. Yes, that sounds quite odd given how the franchise has been experienced in the past.

The character classes for Alone In The Dark: Illumination are:

  • The Hunter is a direct descendant of Edward Carnby, the male protagonist of the original Alone In The Dark and three of the sequels. His primary weapons are large firearms such as an AK-47, M4, P90 or a Flamethrower.
  • The Witch is the great granddaughter of Emily Hartwood, the female protagonist of the original Alone In The Dark. Her primary weapons are rooted in magic abilities including the ability to possess enemies.
  • The Priest is a new character with no connection to prior characters in the series. He uses magical abilities much like The Witch but no details on how these functions have been revealed at the moment.
  • The Engineer is another new character with no connection to previous Alone In The Dark games. She uses firearms as well as mechanical devices she has created.

We have all that and the following teaser trailer to go on for Alone In The Dark: Illumination currently and not much more. Details are slowly seeping out via the game’s website but that is about all that is known short of a planned beta for Alone In The Dark: Illumination slated later this year. For now we can see how gorgeous it is looking and how terrifying the game could be once it hits PCs for us all.

I do find it a bit odd that Alone In The Dark: Illumination is only coming to PC given the engine’s capabilities to cross platform develop but I have a feeling the choice is more on the multiplayer aspect and server need over graphical power. I’m sure that if Alone In The Dark: Illumination does well Atari and Pure FPS would have zero issues or difficulty to port it over to the next gen platforms but as of now that is not the case. Pity…
