Red Dead Redemption 2
Another rumored tidbit for Red Dead Redemption 2 has popped up in ways a of game map & points to Red Dead Redemption 2 being a prequel not a sequel
Here we go with yet another Red Dead Redemption 2 rumor to get you all hyped up for a game that has yet to even be announced. A game that Rockstar Games has even yet to fully tease could be in the works but that of course could all be playing coy. Either way it looks like the game map for Red Dead Redemption 2 has found its way out there somehow and Take-Two Interactive has yet to shut it all down. Of course that doesn’t mean much but there are claims it came right out the workshop somehow.
Of course the entire hullabaloo began over on NeoGAF where the image was posted by someone claiming to have received it from someone close to the project. We all know how that can play out don’t we? None the less there are many things pointing towards it being for Red Dead Redemption 2 but also Mafia 3.
Let’s start with the Red Dead Redemption 2; which seems less plausible to me short of the poster claiming it’s that title. The map syncs up slightly well with the Great Plains featured in Red Dead Redemption as many tried to do once it popped up. Of course if that was the case then it looks like the title could be a prequel of sorts as the rail lines don’t show and the map would be based on an early version of the game’s world. There are also the larger print titles for the sections that have the old west feel to it that also lends credence and items like cabins and trading posts as markers.
On the converse though, there is a whole area listed as New Bordeaux down in the Bayou. That has been confirmed as a location in Mafia 3 already and as that all takes place in Louisiana the Bayou holds more water; pun intended. Not to mention other markers on the map that have a more modern naming convention with the Siska Penitentiary being shown just off to the right of the map. That doesn’t sound very old western to me at all. Neither does “The Loft.” So it is really kind of a tossup with more lending to the Mafia 3 side in my opinion.
What are your thoughts on this being linked to the rumored Red Dead Redemption 2? Do the location names and style of map look more old west to you? Do you think it is more of a Mafia 3 map given some of the other naming conventions? Could the two be linked in some way given the parent company of the developers? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments. As we get updates on this being for Red Dead Redemption 2 or not we will have it for you so be sure to stick around and keep a keen eye out for all of those updates.
