Control Resonant
Go behind the scenes to see how the gameplay of Control has evolved a bit more to where Control Resonant is going to take us
The next developer diary for Control Resonant is here, and it aims to show us how the game has evolved what worked in the previous game and for the IP in general. A nice little look at how things have shifted at Remedy for it all, while making sure that it just does not feel like we are going to be playing the same game, just with a different character. I mean, for starters, this one is taking us outside of the Oldest House and into the real world, going with a melee combat option over the firearms of Control, along with taking the bigger and mysterious threat from the first game and making it the main antagonist. Those are the basics, and now we get to see how that came to be and how the team is going to handle the challenges that are going to be imposed on the game.
The diary below offers a good look at all that was mentioned above. Like the fact that Control Resonant will not be able to contain us in rooms or locations with the “red fog” anymore. It would be out of the scope of the world, but as they describe in the diary, they aimed to make sure the combat made us want to kill all of the Mold in the area instead of forcing us. Which brings us to the antagonists, the Mold, and how they will be infecting the real world, but with the challenge to not let Control Resonant feel like it was a post-apocalyptic game. It is still hard to see in the gameplay we do have here, but that is something the team is trying to make sure we are not feeling. Not to mention, they are also listening to player feedback on things, so when it comes to the Aberrant melee weapon, we are going to get to choose the base form and then progress it in the game while also having six different slots to quickly switch between, so we are not forced into one playstyle.
Control Resonant — Evolving The Gameplay Experience
Go beyond the Oldest House and behind the scenes of Control Resonant, the upcoming sequel to Control.
Control Resonant is Remedy’s own take on an action RPG. The sequel to Control evolves the gameplay experience with deeper gameplay systems. Learn more about them, and the shapeshifting weapon the Aberrant, in the second development diary for Control Resonant.
Control Resonant arrives in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store.
Do you like how things have evolved from the first Control, and does it truly feel like the team has been able to evolve the gameplay from it? Is it going to be hard, no matter the case, for us all not to see a post-apocalypse in the world, and will future gameplay segments help to highlight that? Will you be trying to kill all of the Mold as they hope, or will the new open-world just allow us to keep skipping combat as the game progresses? Let us hear things out in the comment section so we are all on the same page. Since there is no timeline for Control Resonant for when it will launch, we can only expect there to be much more to share in the future. We are going to have all of that here on the website, so please check in often and watch all of our social channels to make sure you know when we are able to make it all live out there.
