Capes
More of the Capes are on display for us to better round out our team before the full launch of Capes
New heroes are on the way to save the world when Capes lands on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC this coming May 29th. New in the way of what Spitfire Interactive has been working on for us all in this turn-based tactical game. Although, we have yet to see many of them in action to be able to dictate if they are truly new or just different versions of power sets we have had a few times already. There is nothing wrong with that, but it would be grand to see something truly new in Capes when it launches. That all said, Daedalic Entertainment has dropped out two more of the crew for us to look at and make a better assessment of what is on the way to us all.
Here we have two more of the heroes joining the Capes roster. Mercurial and Weathervane are their names. To no big surprise, the names of the characters are rather tied to their powers and are easy to guess what they are Mercurial has super speed and can charge up some of the force behind all of that to use in the fight. Weathervane has the ability to use the powers of storms and weather patterns to take down all of the enemies on the map. Be it from calling lighting or calling upon some great winds to blow all of the enemies about while adding to the other powers of the Capes out there. All of these look like they will be fun and require us to plan the perfect setup on the maps to make sure we can save as many of the normal humans as possible. Here is a look at how both characters will break down a bit more.
Capes — Meet The Team: Mercurial
Mercurial is a versatile hero who combines immense speed with raw power. Even before getting her powers, Mercurial let her fists do the talking. From street fighting to professional combat sports, she’s been an active presence on the local scene. However, once she realized that her reflexes and speed had become inhuman, she knew she had just two options: join the Capes or get captured by The Company – the group that declared superpowers illegal.
Mercurial’s speed allows her to cover huge distances, land some hefty punches, confuse or even disarm enemies, and get out of danger, all within the blink of an eye.

Capes — Meet The Team: Weathervane
Weathervane was a keen football player with a quick temper and big dreams. He’s been training hard and blowing through the competition, but that all changes when he accidentally unleashes his powers and gets captured by The Company for nefarious experiments. Luckily, the Capes save his life. He joins them to fight the good fight…and to get revenge.
Weathervane’s Lightning Scourge shocks multiple enemies at once, while his wind abilities allow him to push and pull fuel barrels right to where he wants them – with explosive results!
Jokes aside, yes, these Capes are pretty much Quicksilver/Flash and Storm from the other more established comics out there. These two characters do look like they will add some extra fun into the game, but I know those who are going to complain will call that out so I will do it for them. Given how long the superhero genres have been going, it is going to be hard to come up with truly unique powers again. That is why we need to look at the individual stories of the Capes and how they got their powers instead. That is where they will stop feeling like clones of other characters and become their own thing that just happens to have the abilities of others. That and to see the creative ways that they are able to team up with the other characters too. I have never seen other speedsters cause crystals to be set on fire and explode on enemies before now. I have never seen Storm use her powers to give an extra kick to other hero’s powers. So that is where I am going with all of this instead.
What do you think about these two new Capes we have to look at here and do you see them as adding a lot to the team? Will they be able to figure out a new power set for a character in the game so fans do not freak out about them being clones? Should it always be more about the characters and how they use their powers instead of the exact powers they have? Fly down to the comment section to let your thoughts be heard while keeping the discussion flowing. We are going to have more for Capes as we get closer to the launch of the game, so please keep on checking back here for all of those updates and the many others we have coming down the pipes out there. I know you will not want to miss out on any of them as they come.
