Red Dead Redemption 2

An online mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming and will be going into full beta mode shortly after Red Dead Redemption 2 launches

It is all something we figured would be coming to Red Dead Redemption 2 and now it is officially coming. That is, Red Dead Online will be heading to the game and Rockstar Games has finally given us the most basic of details on it all. Given how their other online systems have worked for their other titles, I will not say I am shocked. I am excited though as they can take what they have learned from their other avenues into the system and perfect it more for Red Dead Redemption 2. Now we can just be glad to know it is coming and hitting the PS4 and Xbox One sometime after October 26th when the core game launches.

That is at least the plan as it all stands and we can see it hitting Red Dead Redemption 2 in November of this year. Given that they will want to make sure this is a mode that will carry the game on further than just a few extra months, it is more likely to be “ready when it is ready” and not a solid date. I guess this is also why when it does come; it will be in a public beta mode for all who currently own Red Dead Redemption 2 on the PS4 and Xbox One. All so they can build it up, we can tear it down, and then find a happy balance until they are ready for it to be considered a “full release” for the game. Exactly as has been done in the past.

Red Dead Redemption 2 — Red Dead Online

Today we’re excited to announce Red Dead Online, a new online connected experience set against the backdrop of Red Dead Redemption 2’s enormous open world.

Red Dead Online is an evolution of the classic multiplayer experience in the original Red Dead Redemption, blending narrative with competitive and cooperative gameplay in fun new ways. Using the gameplay of the upcoming Red Dead Redemption 2 as a foundation, Red Dead Online will be ready to be explored alone or with friends, and will also feature constant updates and adjustments to grow and evolve this experience for all players.

Red Dead Online is planned for launch in November 2018, initially as a public beta, with more news to come soon. As with most online experiences of this size and scale, there will inevitably be some turbulence at launch. We look forward to working with our amazing and dedicated community to share ideas, help us fix teething problems and work with us to develop Red Dead Online into something really fun and innovative.

Access to Red Dead Online is free to anyone with a copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 on either PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.

Are you at all surprised to see that Red Dead Redemption 2 will be going online with Red Dead Online? Are you even surprised that Rockstar Games will be releasing it in the usual public beta mode that we have seen a few times already from them? What do you think it will truly add to the overall game or will it just be something for those who do not want to play just a single-player game out there? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. For more on Red Dead Redemption 2 or its online mode, keep dropping in here. We will keep all of the updates flowing out there as fast as we can.
