Ritual Tides Has Some New Gameplay Filled With More Lovecraftian Horrors

Ritual Tides

A bit of gameplay is out there for Ritual Tides, and it shows off how horrifying some of the monsters in Ritual Tides will be

I hope you are ready to have some of your skin crawl out there, as we have a new look at Ritual Tides that offers up a few things that will do that to you. I am sure it will build further into the narrative psychological horror title that Vertpaint is working on once we get into the bigger game, but for now, we get to see these Lovecraftian things crawling about. There’s a good reason I keep using those words, as these all look to be spider and insect-like in Ritual Tides, just with the cosmic horror twist to some of them. All while still fitting in the world that we will get to explore when this title hits the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC out there. We just have to be ready, so let’s get ready now.

Before you get too scared to check out what Ritual Tides has to offer, let’s bring up what else the game has to offer up to us. This is a first-person game that takes place on an isolated British island with a dark past. We’re on this island to figure out all of those mysteries that others have not. All while trying to stay alive from a cult and the beings it is pulling into our world. That is where a bit of the saving grace comes in, as we will need to find ammunition, food, and other items to keep us alive, but also to help fuel a fight back against the horrible beasts we will come across in Ritual Tides. The gameplay makes it look as if it will be a lot of darker caves we are roaming, but there should be many other biomes to explore as the darkness starts to spread out there. Have a look at the quick shots we have to take in for the game now.

Ritual Tides — Gameplay

Ritual Tides is a single-player, narrative-driven first-person psychological horror game set on the isolated British island of Hortus. Explore the island, uncover its dark past, loot food, ammunition and supplies, evade the cult of the Fallow Parish, and survive Lovecraftian horrors.

This newly released trailer provides the first glimpse of gameplay from the title, showcasing the haunting world of Hortus — a remote British island in the 1800s where players awaken alone on unforgiving shores and must navigate bleak countryside, abandoned settlements, and the decaying remains of a once-thriving community.

Ritual Tides is being developed with the ambition of delivering visual fidelity that surpasses many modern AAA productions. To support the game’s unique traversal and combat design, Vertpaint rebuilt its core first-person systems and combat mechanics from the ground up, enabling a deeply immersive and atmospheric horror experience.

Ritual Tides is currently in development for PC, with console versions also planned for launch this year.

How are you feeling about Ritual Tides after seeing the new gameplay out there? Does it look like we are getting more of the cosmic spiders in the mix over the usual tentacles Lovecraft has to offer? How long will it take to reload our weapons as we fire them off in this archaic time? Do you think that the cosmic horror parts of the game are going to be just a listing and not something that will place that level of dread into us out there? Let’s hear it all out in the comment section down the page here. We have a bit more coming for Ritual Tides in the future, so make sure to check the site for all of those updates as they come. Watch all of our socials to make sure you get the alerts when we drop all of the new info out there, too.
