Star Wars Outlaws
The next big Star Wars is on the way to us all with a lot of new gameplay just for Star Wars Outlaws
Well, here we go with the full announcement of Star Wars Outlaws out there in the world. One of the more hyped up and anticipated titles to come out of Massive Entertainment in the coming year, and here we go with it. First showed off during the Summer Game Fest Xbox stream and then more details out there from the Ubisoft Forward. All for us to see a new side of the Star Wars universe and also to give us an experience we have yet to have on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Hold onto your butts and get ready to fly right into what we have coming in 2024. Yes, that is going to feel like a long time to wait after all of the fun we have to take in for now.
Let us start off with the first premier video we were given for Star Wars Outlaws. A nice little trailer that shows off the scum and villainy we are going to be dealing with in the game. All of this happens to take place right in that sweet spot between Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi for those fans that need to have the story and timeline context. Here we get our first look at Kay Vess in the Star Wars universe that is going to need to steal, fight, and do all manner of questionable things to survive and escape the empire for good. All without any of the space wizard stuff at their disposal. Not an easy feat, but one I know I am happy to take on.
Star Wars Outlaws — World Premiere
Watch the World Premiere trailer of Star Wars Outlaws. Introducing scoundrel Kay Vess in the first-ever open-world Star Wars game. Coming 2024.
Experience the first-ever open-world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi. Explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Risk it all as Kay Vess, an emerging scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.
While the flashiness of the more cinematic trailer for Star Wars Outlaws is nice, we all want to see how the game is going to play. That is where our next little bit is going to come in here with some early gameplay that the team was nice enough to give us after building all manner of hype. Gameplay that shows off how Kay will need to sneak about in certain areas, get into the solid gun slinger fights these scoundrels are known for, then leads into a full-on escape and space dogfight with Kay’s ship. Yes, it sounds like Star Wars Outlaws is going to give us everything we need in a game like this, and not a single lightsaber in sight. That is the part I am further excited for and hope stays the way.
You can see this new footage just a little lower down, but to me, it feels as if Star Wars Outlaws is taking some of the better elements from the Assassin’s Creed line of games and the fun of the Jedi games we have only had as of late. As long as we can always choose which way we want to go in the story and not be forced into certain aspects, Star Wars Outlaws will hit those two great points. The gameplay we do have does feel a little scripted and played for the most hype, so be warned of that, but also looks like we can go about the mission as we choose. It may have the same outcome of needing to run off to our ship, but it does feel like if we wanted to go in shooting first, we have that option.

Now that you have been properly teased and hyped up for Star Wars Outlaws, let us dive into a little of the behind-the-scenes for the game. Specifically, getting to meet the actor bringing Kay Vess to life in voice and motion capture. It is an interesting choice that they did not try to clone the performer completely as they did for Cal Kestis, but that could have been a call from Humbery González and not a sign that they did not want Kay to be fully within continuity. The main minds for Star Wars were behind most of this too, so we could be seeing more of the character down the line and outside of the video games. This will be something we can get clarified out at San Diego Comic-Con where the team will be to further show off the game.

Did you recover that lost mind after all of this for Star Wars Outlaws or do you still need another moment? When do you think we could see this in 2024 and will they choose the obvious date of May 4th? Do you like the feel of the gameplay and how it looks to blend so many different mechanics we have seen the team do well before? Could we be given the chance to play it all as open as possible or will there always be scripted scenes we have to walk down? Take it all to the comment section and discuss all of this. We will have more to share for Star Wars Outlaws in the coming month, so please keep checking back in for those updates and more.
