The No Return Mode Is Coming In The Last Of Us Part II Remastered

The Last Of Us Part II

The new mode for The Last Of Us Part II is shown off as we all wait for The Last Of Us Part II Remastered to launch out there

One of the big pulls for The Last Of Us Part II Remastered had to be the new mode that was announced to be coming out for the game. I say that, as many have been able to experience the game on the PS5 for a while now even if it was not truly native. Naughty Dog, I am sure, wants everyone to experience it in that way, but the bigger thing is the new No Return Mode that we are getting in The Last Of Us Part II. This is the new roguelike element that will have us looking to try to replay with some of the combat in a single-player way. As long as that was always something you felt was missing from the game in the first place. No matter the case, let us all have a look at what it will be bringing to us on January 19th, 2024, when this version of the game drops out there in the world.

As you can see below, this will add in a new linear path for us to go in The Last Of Us Part II where we will need to upgrade weapons and various other things to try to do better with each run. The path we see here always seems to end in a fight with a Rat King, but maybe this could be a little different when the mode fully drops out there. Even if the paths and encounters are supposed to be a bit random, we are going to have a whole lot of the familiar in the mix. All as we select between many different characters with many different skins along the way. Some to be expected and many that we might not have been able to play around with as of yet either. Have a good highlight for all of that below and see if this new mode will have you diving back into the combat of The Last Of Us Part II when we could have gone with some other form of gameplay besides this.

The Last Of Us Part II — No Return Mode

Experience The Last Of Us Part II Remastered’s deep combat via an entirely new single-player mode! Survive as long as you can in each run, as you choose your path through a series of randomized encounters featuring different foes and memorable locations from throughout Part II, all culminating in tense boss battles. Unique gameplay modifiers can offer new and unexpected challenges as you fight to succeed – and survive – in a host of different encounter types. Play as Ellie, Abby, and a variety of unlockable characters, including never-before-playable characters like Dina, Jesse, Lev, Tommy, and more, each with unique traits to offer a variety of playstyles, and unlock skins for them as you progress to use in the mode.

Available on PS5 January 19, 2024.

This is most likely a mode of The Last Of Us Part II Remastered that I will touch once and then never go back into again, if I am being honest. The style of gameplay is not my normal thing, and I do not see how this will add much more than some basic replay value for a very small part of the audience. This is not what fans of The Last Of Us come in for but I am sure this was to offer up something truly different than anything. It feels just like some of the modes other survival horror games add in that just have the character models doing something they would not normally be doing all so they can claim it is more than reselling the game just with some slightly better graphics. I will be completely surprised if this turns out to be anything more than that or something that drives the sales of this game one more time. I am sure that is what the TV show is going to do when the new season comes more than this.

Are you at all excited to get to play this mode in The Last Of Us Part II or will it be something you try once and then go back in for the amazing story and other gameplay the core game has? Will the “never before seen” characters truly draw you in or will you always stick to Abby or Ellie? Is this all to keep the game in the zeitgeist while we wait for the next season of the show or for the developer to give us another title in the series? Feel free to discuss all of this in the comment section below. There should be more for The Last Of Us Part II Remastered on the site for you to enjoy, so please keep on checking in for all of that and everything else that we can share with you on this title.
