The Occultist Is Launching On The Scene In A Cinematic Way

The Occultist

The launch for The Occultist is almost here, and we have a bit of a cinematic to show why we need to join The Occultist

Things are starting to get spooky out there at the Godstone, and that is why The Occultist is launching on the case. Well, more that he will be on the case on April 8th when the game officially launches on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. That does not stop DALOAR and Daedalic Entertainment from putting together a nice little launch trailer for us to see beforehand. It is quite a bit beforehand, but still something to get us excited for The Occultist. Especially as this new cinematic trailer is highlighting more of the main voice actor, we are going to be hearing a lot of. That voice being the one of Doug Cockle, the same one that brought Geralt to life before.

Those who have a keen ear and have been watching all that we have for The Occultist might have picked up on that from before, but here is the official statement stating you were correct. All through a nice little scene that shows off the main character, Alan Rebels, while being a whole lot of sizzle to get us ready for the game. Take that as this is not gameplay for The Occultist, but more of a look at the tone and a bit of the world we will be wandering around in when the game launches. Although this does imply that The Occultist will be playing out as Alan is remembering the times at the Godstone and this whole investigation. If that is just the narrative framing or a good excuse as to why Alan might not be able to truly die in The Occultist, that is still yet to be seen. Although that would be a great way to explain those death scenes away as we restart the sections. I am a sucker for that kind of framing in our games, even if it does mean that our character will make it out no matter what.

The Occultist — Launch Trailer

The cinematic launch trailer for The Occultist centers on Alan Rebels, voiced by Doug Cockle (e.g., The Witcher series). In a quiet bar, he sits over his notes, unable to escape the memories of Godstone.

Blending cinematic in-engine sequences with fragmented memories and personal notes, the trailer frames the island not just as a place, but as a presence. The footage offers a focused look at the game’s psychological tension, where exploration and narrative are tightly intertwined.

Alan Rebels is brought to life by Doug Cockle, known for his role as Geralt in The Witcher game series. His performance reinforces the game’s character-driven approach, grounding the unfolding events in a personal and increasingly oppressive perspective.

The Occultist will release on April 8, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Did you pick up on the voice actor in The Occultist before now, and was this just confirmation for you? Will the game use the “going over notes” aspect to tell the story and explain away anything that might be a game-over screen, or is that all just to make the cinematic work and get us all excited? Would you have rather seen some real gameplay in the mix for this launch, or have we already seen enough along the way already? Let us discuss it all in the comment section further down the page. Now that we have the launch trailer for The Occultist, I am not sure there is going to be much more of an update to the game. Maybe we will have a review. You will have to keep checking back with the website to see all of that. You can also follow all of our social channels to see when that all goes live as well. The choices are always up to you.
