The Xbox One S Now Has A Release Date For Us

The Xbox One S now has a release date for us; at least if you want to buy the largest Xbox One S option that will be available

Back in June we had word on the new Xbox One S and that it would be coming. Microsoft opened up pre-orders for the console in terms of the 2 TB option around then too and now it looks like we know when the console will be shipped and available. If you are amped to get the Xbox One S or just to upgrade, then you’ll be glad to know that it will be coming or in stores on August 2nd here. It looks like the insane wait a lot of people were expecting has been limited down to only a few weeks. At least as long as you are okay with dropping $399 USD right out of the gate for the upgraded system.

You may be thinking to yourself “I thought there were other option sizes?” You would be completely correct in thinking that as there was a 500GB and 1TB version of the Xbox One S also announced and slated for $299 USD and $349 USD respectfully. Sadly, the dates that those will be available are still a closely guarded secret over there. I’d suspect that they are going to hold out to see how well this version of the Xbox One S sells and then how the new PS4 goes before they give out the other option. That is at least what makes sense to me and I won’t be overly surprised if that is just the way it all goes.

Xbox One S — Release Date

Xbox One S is the most compact Xbox yet, 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One, and includes a built-in power supply. We also shifted one of the three USB ports and the pairing button to the front of the Xbox One S alongside the newly added IR blaster for increased accessibility.

Beyond the fresh new design, Xbox One S is the first and only console that allows you to watch Blu-ray movies and stream video in stunning 4K Ultra HD with High Dynamic Range (HDR). That means you’ll get to enjoy your favorite shows and movies in the clearest, most realistic video possible. With HDR support for video and gaming, Xbox One games like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and Scalebound will look even better thanks to a higher contrast ratio between lights and darks, bringing out the true visual depth of your favorite games.

If you want to pre-order the Xbox One S you still can. Sadly, it doesn’t sound like your will be out in the first wave that is hitting August 2 nd but according to Microsoft it should be closely behind. None the less you can head over to microsoftstore.com to shell out the cash and secure one for yourself. Or hold out for the lower level versions that will have a nicer price point. Whichever option floats your boat I guess…

Are you surprised to see that the Xbox One S is coming out so soon? Will you be picking up the 2TB version of the console or will you be holding out for the smaller versions? Did you already pre-order and are just playing the waiting game now? Let us know what you are thinking and feeling down in the comments below. For more on the Xbox One S in all of its aspects be sure to stay right here as we will keep bringing you the updates as they come. Or at least bring you an update on when we can expect to see the smaller version to hit our market here. I’m guessing sometime just before the holidays in all honesty.
