Twisted Metal Drops Its First Teaser For The Upcoming Show

Twisted Metal

The first teaser for Twisted Metal, the upcoming TV series, is here to kind of be Twisted Metal

Here we go with the upcoming Twisted Metal series that is on the way to Peacock streaming this Summer. A nice little teaser that features Anthony Mackie as John Doe in a familiar yet not specific vehicle in the world. A teaser that also gives us a little look at the iconic Sweet Tooth from all of the Twisted Metal past while still in “Lost Vegas.” All weird choices, but it is what it is to get us all hyped up for July 27th when the show starts airing its ten episodes. So, a nice teaser with a very little wait time to see just how this whole thing is going to play out. Not too shabby.

Now that we have that, let us dive into the worrisome part of the Twisted Metal show here. That being the fact that the only part that seems like it is coming over from the games will be the name, vehicles that can shoot, and Sweet Tooth. None of the other characters are even from the core game beyond that. Hells, the whole setting is in a post-apocalyptic setting with John Doe just driving across the country in the wastes to deliver something. There does not sound like there is a tournament at all and the only reason Sweet Tooth is in here is to have an iconic character as the villain of the story. I am going to be going into all of this very cautiously optimistic, but it is not looking good to me. Short of the actors and voices we will have, the script feels like it might be flimsy. Especially after we had the wonder that was The Last Of Us.

Twisted Metal — Teaser

Twisted Metal is streaming on July 27th on Peacock.

Synopsis: Twisted Metal, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck.

How scared are you for this new Twisted Metal series and do you think it will be better than the trailer makes it feel? Could they have the other characters in the background somewhere and have them prop up these new ones to make them better? Could this all be to drive us toward the actual tournament and in a setting where the showrunners do not have to worry about explaining why the world lets it happen? Head into the comment section and let your thoughts be known. We will be keeping an eye on this Twisted Metal, for sure, so please keep checking back in for all of that and everything else we can offer up along the way.
