The Order: 1886
A new developer diary for The Order: 1886 has been released from Ready At Dawn to show off all the cool weapons and gadgets for the game
We’ve seen some the cool guns in action for The Order: 1886 in the past so it is high time that we see how they came to be. I’m not talking about in the real world during the design of The Order: 1886 but also during the core of the game from Nikola Tesla and others. That is just what we have in the following video from Ready At Dawn and it is quite an interesting watch if I do say so myself.
I won’t go into all the details here as that would defeat the purpose of watching the video below but it looks like most of the gear in The Order: 1886 is based on, closely and loosely, the real world state of affairs at the time. Obviously things needed to be flubbed to make the gameplay and combat work for The Order: 1886 but I’ll be honest if I didn’t know better, most of the items here seem like they really could have existed during the Victorian Age.
Particularly I love the look and feel of the Tesla altered items that look, as described in the video, to be more of a danger to the wielder of the hardware than a threat to the enemy. Granted all of the items are designed to harm the enemy or help you for game mechanic purposes but they certainly look what RaD wanted. If there was a mechanic in The Order: 1886 where the item could and would hurt the operator at random intervals that could make things interesting but I think more frustrating in the end. Unless it was like an overheating mechanic. Then it’s just resource management.
Enough on all that though. Have a good long look at the wonderful toys we will be killing the half-breeds with when The Order: 1886 releases on February 20th 2015.
