Far Cry 5
The Season Pass content for Far Cry 5 has been further detailed and it looks like there is even more for Far Cry 5 post-launch with Far Cry Arcade
If you have been hovering on that pre-order for Far Cry 5 based on what you could be getting in the Season Pass and post-launch content, then it is time to take note and get ready to choose. We now have further details on all of it from Ubisoft to help you figure out if you just want to the core experience, that and all of the extra DLC, or all of it with the free add-ons to come and keep you playing the game. I guess you could add that into the core aspect of Far Cry 5 as there will be a lot of free post-launch content, but there are gamers out there who will put the game down after they make it through the core version and then never pick it back up. Even for the low price of free.
We will start off by looking at the not free content coming to Far Cry 5 after March 27th here. The content that will run you $29.99 USD to add on to the core game if you so choose. We first heard about some of it a while back, but now we get to see it in action as the Season Pass will give us three new adventures that will take us to the Vietnam War, to Mars, and then a whole lot of different places swarming with the undead. Not exactly what you would think to be part of the Far Cry 5 experience, but I have a feeling they will get adding in through some form of story element to try to make sense of it all. It could just be thrown in with no real link outside of core mechanics, so we will have to wait.
Also, in case you missed it the first time, Far Cry 5‘s Season Pass will also give players Far Cry 3 as part of the fun as well. For the PS4 and Xbox One gamers out there it will be the “Classic Edition” of the game that will have everything but multiplayer for the old game. PC gamers who get the Season Pass will also get the full version of Far Cry 3 without limitations, just at a later date that is still to be defined. Time will tell if that will be worth the cost of an indie game, but those looking forward to Far Cry 5 can now purchase the Season Pass with mostly full knowledge now.
Far Cry 5 — Post Launch
Players who purchase the Season Pass or Far Cry 5 Gold Edition will continue their uncanny adventures in three pieces of DLC: Hours of Darkness, Dead Living Zombies and Lost on Mars.
- Hours Of Darkness: Players will travel back in time to Vietnam to battle against Việt Cộng soldiers and save their fellow soldiers
- Lost On Mars: Players will leave Earth behind to go toe-to-claws with martian arachnids to save Earth from an alien invasion
- Dead Living Zombies: Players will team up with friends to fight waves of zombies across seven different scenarios cooked up by a b-movie director
Additionally, all Far Cry 5 Season Pass owners playing on consoles will receive the single-player content from another critically-acclaimed Far Cry series entry with Far Cry 3 Classic Edition, which will be available to season pass holders four weeks prior to launching as a standalone purchase in summer 2018. PC players will receive the full version of Far Cry 3 at a later date following the launch of Far Cry 5.
If buying the extras for Far Cry 5 is not your jam, Ubisoft has also let loose that there will be post launch updates that will cost us all nothing more than the time and bandwidth to download. Obviously, there will be basic updates and other “live events” that will be hosted, but also Far Cry Arcade will be added in for no cost. This will be another addition to Far Cry 5, but will give us all access to a Map Editor to create our own adventures and fun using the core game mechanics but setting them in whatever world we can craft. Anything from another solo experience to co-op to multiplayer PvP experiences can be crafted and then pushed out the community. The developers will also be taking part in this so we can know there will be some pro level maps and experiences to be had.
These maps will not be limited to content from Far Cry 5 only, at least in terms of items and environments, as it looks like many other Far Cry titles will have their assets added in for this as well as a few Assassin’s Creed titles, and Watch_Dogs. There is no word on if this will expand out into other IPs that Ubisoft hold or titles we have all played many times, but it will open up to many different gaming experiences in Far Cry 5 that will earn you in-game cash and perks that can be moved into the core game. And all for the low price of free as we mentioned before. Not too shabby.
Far Cry 5 — Infinite Gameplay And A Creative Map Editor
All Far Cry 5 players will also have access to Far Cry Arcade, the evolution of the map editor that will deliver an endless amount of free gameplay and map creation opportunities for players. Far Cry Arcade will include assets from previous Far Cry games as well as other Ubisoft titles, including content from Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed Unity, and Watch_Dogs, that can be used to make solo, co-op and PvP multiplayer experiences.
