A Lot Of New Action Is Coming With Outcast: Second Contact

Outcast: Second Contact

Another new developer diary for Outcast: Second Contact is here and we also get to see a lot more on the side of combat & action for Outcast: Second Contact

Next week, November 14th, we will see Outcast: Second Contact land on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC yet we still have so much more to see and understand for the game. At least if you had little to no knowledge of the game before Appeal and Bigben went to give us this new version and continuation of the franchise. It is hard to wrap it all up in one short way, but as it looks, that will not be needed here as we can further see how the action and combat of Outcast: Second Contact have been altered from where the franchise originally had it. Time and technology will allow for that I guess and this is the result of all of that. It is a great time to be alive for video games here is it not? Of course it is.

Of course, combat and action is not everything that makes up Outcast: Second Contact and we have the dev team here to explain some of the other gameplay functions coming in the game and some of them being visible to the player for the first time. Things like NPC relationships and Enemy Resources will now be available to us in the franchise so we can better gauge how we are doing or why we should go after a specific location in the game. Both of these were items that had to be hidden before as they just could not get it to flow correctly in Outcast and still make the game playable. Interesting stuff and you can see more of that just below in the latest developer diary here.

Outcast: Second Contact — Dev Diary 2 – What’s new?

In the second part of our dev diary, we ask: “What’s new in Outcast: Second Contact?”

Now that we have made it through a bit more of the “boring” side of Outcast: Second Contact, let us dig into the new action and combat for the game. The fire rates of some of the weapons have been increased and it looks like we have some new gadgets to use in the game to set up traps or just survive a bit longer. All really interesting stuff here and just a bit more to get ready for the release coming next week. Have a look at it all and see if this open-world title is going to need to be something to add to your library or if Bigben should have left the Outcast franchise in the past. I know I am glad that we are getting it back into the mix of it all.

Outcast: Second Contact — Action

In Outcast: Second Contact, the action takes place on Adelpha, a vast open world to explore and the cradle of an ancient alien civilization, the Talans. This video shows a bit of the gameplay in Outcast: Second Contact and the depth of its unique world, in which exploration is at the heart of adventure. Sacred portals, called Daokas, let you travel freely to the four corners of Adelpha from the very start of the game, as you search for your crewmates and the lost terrestrial probe.

To successfully complete your mission and the hundreds of side quests, you will need to gain the trust of the local inhabitants. Talk with the people, negotiate with rich merchants, save oppressed farmers, take on dangerous predators and even undergo a mystic ritual with the great Shamaz priests of Adelpha. Each Talan has a unique history and personality.

What are your thoughts on Outcast: Second Contact so far and are you looking to pick it up next week? Do you agree that it is amazing to see where games have evolved to since the first title came out and how the developers can use the new hardware to make it even better? Do you think that this could be the revitalization of the franchise some out there have wanted or will this be more of a fan-service title and not much more? Let us know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. We may have more for Outcast: Second Contact before launch and if we do, it will be here on the site. Stick around so you can experience it all.
