Inmates
Another psychological horror title is in the works, Inmates, and it looks like Inmates will be bringing all kinds of terror just as we have seen before
Out at Gamescom it looks like we had another announcement in the form of a game called Inmates. It may sound like this may be some kind of commentary on the prison systems around the world, but in fact this is a new psychological horror game from Iceberg Interactive that will be driving right on to the PC in a few month. The actual release date is not set down just yet, but it has been stated that Inmates will release in the next few months so take that as you will. At a $9.99 USD price point though I guess you cannot really expect there to be years of wait for the game after all. It does sound like it will be an experience that is on the smaller side…
Given that the wait for Inmates should be a short one, one would expect there to be a lot more in the way of details for the game. In fact, what we do know is that it will have an interactive environment, puzzles that fit the theme, a claustrophobic setting, all the amazing visuals you will kind of see in the following trailer, and the fact that it will run between three to four hours in length. So Inmates may be intense, but not too long to draw it all out for too long. I guess the price point does seem to make more sense given the length and all of that.
In terms of the story of Inmates, it looks like we will be in the role of a man named Jonathan who wakes up in a dark and dirty prison cell. He has no memory of how or why he is there and only knows that he needs to get out. It looks more or less like you are one of the patients from Outlast and have no idea why everyone has gone so crazy. At least that is the look to me as it does not seem like there is a solid reason as of yet as to why all of the other Inmates are attacking you and ganging up like zombies in the halls or compound. That is my hot takeaway on this for now and we may just need to wait for more.
Inmates — Gamescom Announcement
The most frightening thing about Jonathan’s nightmare is that he may not be dreaming…
Inmates is a psychological horror game with puzzle elements in which you must find out the truth behind your confinement and uncover the dark secrets of the run-down prison you find yourself in.
You’ve awoken from a nightmare, Jonathan. But did it truly end? You are in a seedy prison cell and have no clue how you got there. You’re terrified and confused, but you also feel something else: a painful sense of familiarity. You’ve convinced yourself this is all just a bad dream. Unfortunately, according to the voice coming from the old radio, things are not as simple as you’d like them to be.
Delve deep into your psyche while trying to stay sane, in this most disturbing of horror games.
Do you have any burning thoughts on Inmates based on what has been seen and know about this title? Do you think it will be a short little jaunt like The Park or a small section of the aforementioned Outlast? Are these shorter stories in a quicker turnaround going to be the future of gaming and horror or will it only be a few games here and there? Let us know all of your thoughts down in the comments and then feel free to discuss. For more on Inmates as we get it, just check in here on the site. We will keep all of these updates flowing as we can find them.
