And So The Final Fantasy XV Story Begins…

Final Fantasy XV

The latest trailer for Final Fantasy XV has been released during Gamescom and it shows a bit more of the story we will get to experience in Final Fantasy XV

There is no doubt that the basic story of Final Fantasy XV has been altered a bit since we first heard about Final Fantasy Versus 13 and where the game has been developer to currently. This makes perfect sense as Square Enix and the developers have been working endlessly to bring us a new game and not an expansion off of the FF13 world. Up until now we haven’t had all that much in way of what is going on with the bromance car rides we’ve seen in the Final Fantasy XV demo so far and other trailers we’ve seen. This of course makes sense as the story is going to be half of the selling point for Final Fantasy XV on the Xbox One and PS4 and we wouldn’t want to spoil anything yet. But we still need something solid to go on here.

If you are demanding to have a bit of the story of Final Fantasy XV that has yet to be released then your demands are being fulfilled as Square Enix has released a story trailer for the game as well as given a few more of the starting points of it all. In this case we get to see the events that will eventually lead to the main story of Final Fantasy XV as it all takes place about fifteen years before the core story. All stories do have a beginning and this one is going to need to have a doozy of one. If you have yet to skip on down to the video below then I will let you make the jump so you can see what we will be experiencing in Final Fantasy XV when it finally does release. As a note a release date has yet to be revealed but it has been set by the publisher.

One more note here for Final Fantasy XV is that all of what you are about to see is in-game footage and not pre-rendered. Keep that in mind as your jaw drops as is the norm with many things Final Fantasy. It is always so impressive.

Final Fantasy XV — Dawn Trailer

In a matter of days, the Kingdom of Lucis is to sign an armistice, ending a long and bitter conflict with Niflheim. Ahead of the ceremony, Prince Noctis, heir to the Lucian throne, sets forth from his homeland to formalize the union of states through his marriage to the Lady Lunafreya of the imperial province of Tenebrae.

The offer of peace, however, is no more than a ruse to lower the Lucian shield, and the imperial army takes the crown city and its sacred crystal in one fell swoop. En route to his destination, Noctis is shocked to learn that he, his father the king, and his betrothed are believed dead.

Overnight, the dream of peace has faded into a distant memory. His world crumbling around him, Noctis has naught but his resolve and his loyal companions to see him through the trials to come.

So much told and not told without words here for Final Fantasy XV. That is why I included the official write up for the story here as I didn’t get any of that from the above trailer. After reading it all I can see elements present in the video but I am not sure that was the full point. As the guys from Square Enix have also explained Final Fantasy XV is going to have a full range of emotions that they want to evoke and that was kind of the goal here. The Duscae demo showed more of the lighthearted fun side of Final Fantasy XV but this was to show the great bonds that will be formed as well as how sad the story may end up being. That was one of the goals for Final Fantasy Versus 13 so that makes great sense and I full welcome it.

Outside of the story here for Final Fantasy XV not much else has been revealed for the game during Gamescom so far. It has been stated that almost everything for Final Fantasy XV in terms of development and announcements has been set down so we can expect more here in the coming months but in this case it is all story and not much more. Even the brief Q/A that Square Enix held after showing off the Final Fantasy XV trailer didn’t reveal more than the fact that they are still trying to figure out how to include Airships and the big creatures seen at the end of the above trailer are not Summons or Eidolons. Then a whole lot of “we can’t answer that at this time for Final Fantasy XV” answers. Boo!

You’ve seen it now and we want to know what you think about the Final Fantasy XV story that has been released here. Does it make sense to you based on what you saw and read? Are you chomping at the bits to get more of the story out of Square Enix? That’s a dumb question as you most likely are. In any instance we want to know what is on your mind and discuss all of that for Final Fantasy XV down in the comments. As we know we have a schedule now for released information for the game you should know to keep it locked in here as we will have all of the Final Fantasy XV information as it gets released and you don’t want to miss out on getting it for yourself.
