Apparently We Knew Nothing About Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s Story

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare

A new story trailer for Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare has been released and it looks like it is taking Call Of Duty down some usual paths

Up to now we’ve only had some fun and bits to speculate on for Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s campaign story that we are going to get to play here in a few months. So far the game has looked a lot like a lot of other shooters out there and some have stated that it looks like Infinity Ward has just been copying off other franchises that Activision doesn’t own. I can see the comparisons so far but we’ve been reassured that this will be a Call Of Duty game and not a rip-off of other IPS. Now we have a new story trailer to have a look at to see just how that is going to be done here.

No holding back here. Have a look at the new story trailer for the game.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare — Story Trailer

The game returns to the roots of the series for a classic war story that, for the first time in franchise history, extends beyond the reaches of Earth into the vast expanse of our solar system.

The trailer also features the first in-game footage of actor Kit Harington, who plays Admiral Salen Kotch of the Settlement Defense Front, and UFC fighter Conor McGregor, who plays Captain Bradley Fillion of the Settlement Defense Front.

Up to now I have given some slack on the similarities that Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare has had with other IPs from the past and current cycle. It saddens me to see that we are hoping into the space marine genre with the franchise and we will be fighting technical Martians in the game with all kinds of space weapons. Even in a moon base. This seems more and more lifted to me now instead of something new and inspired out of Infinity Ward. Of course this is all based on bits of a story trailer here but I know I loved having basic soldiers in my Call Of Duty games and not space marines. That’s what the other franchises are for.

Of course though, you must have seen the familiar faces here playing the baddies in this version of Call Of Duty. That was Kit Harington (Game Of Thrones) and Conor McGregor (UFC) mixed in and playing what can be assumed to be the villains of the game. I could be wrong but in my perception of them based on the trailer here but that is how I saw it. I do have to applaud the teams though as I didn’t need to look up who they were as the character models were perfect here. At least we know that Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be able to render all of that in perfect form and we’ll get some great performances.

What do you think of the story so far for Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare though? Do you agree that it looks like we are heading into a territory that feels too familiar or am I seeing too much? What do you think about the character models used here and the actions they took? Let us know and feel free to discuss in the comments below.
