Let us all go behind the scenes a bit more for Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR before it hits the various VR platforms out there on November 16th. As long as you are looking to get more of the IP from Ubisoft in a new way instead of just giving us all one more PC game out there. It is what it is, but that does not change the fact we are getting some new Assassin’s Creed story and gameplay to experience. Now, we get to see just how that is coming to life. Along with a bit more on how it will actually function and bridge into the larger narrative of the IP. Even if it feels like it could be a bit more contrived than some might have thought before.

We already knew that Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR was going to place us into the world and give us some of the abilities of the assassin in the mix. The parkour and the combat, even if it looks like things might be slowed down a bit to help compensate for the use of VR instead. Even if that feels like it would be better for the locomotion in the game. Here, we get to see a little more of all of that and just how much closer we will be to becoming an assassin. All while getting to live through three of the characters from Assassin’s Creed that will be bridged using the modern-day setting of it all. Somehow an outside hacker just happens to have a connection to these three characters. Not too crazy, but it does feel like there is something deeper going on as the assassins use us to break in to figure out how Connor, Alexandra, and Ezio are further connected out there.

It still feels like the combat is going to be taking a bit more of a back seat in this Assassin’s Creed run given what we see here. Not a terrible thing, but it is odd to see that we will have the ability to strike and block real-time while also having other elements that make it all feel like it is a rhythm game. Maybe these are for specific attacks and hits and not just for general combat. Then again, if we are playing an Assassin’s Creed game correctly, they would never know we were coming and we could creep around the map without issue at all. That is how I always try to play it, but the game usually forces some kind of combat in to make sure those efforts do not go to waste when building it. Let us just hope it works just as well in VR as it does non-VR.
