Black Mirror Is Getting Rebooted & Coming This November

Black Mirror

Old games die-hard as Black Mirror is getting a reboot of sorts and we can all look to see Black Mirror release this coming November

I hope you are ready for another reboot to come your way this year as Black Mirror has just been announced to be heading our way to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC here in November. This isn’t something tied to the Netflix show as THQ Nordic has made perfectly clear, but a whole new-ish title form KING Art Games that will slightly build off the previous titles in the same IP. Why they didn’t go with a Black Mirror IV to keep the whole thing going, I don’t know, but this is how it is and fans of the old point-and-click horror title can look to have a whole new experience coming their way. Thankfully, all made in a manner that places it all on par with the current titles it will be competing against.

Of course, we hear point-and-click and go to a very specific place with Black Mirror now, but as it sounds this will only be the basis for the investigation and interactions “re-imagining” for the gameplay. I’m going to guess that this means we will see something along the basic point-and-click gameplay but designed in a way that feels current generation when it comes to our games. A lot has come and gone since the last title for Black Mirror was released so they had better make use of it all or this reboot will just fall to the side and collect dust. Or digital dust depending on how it is sold and shared out there.

Black Mirror — Announcement Trailer

Scotland, 1926. Following the death of his father, David Gordon visits his ancestral home for the first time in his life. A life that is soon threatened by the dark secrets that claimed the sanity of many Gordons before him. Blood is not always thicker than water.

Tormented by nightmares and waking dreams for all his life, David fears that it might be his destiny to follow in his father’s footsteps, down a path that leads to madness, and death.

As far as other features go for Black Mirror, it sounds like KING Art Games will be bringing some high-quality voice acting work to the IP, keep with the same “Lovecraftian” horror side of it all, as well as mix in some interactions with the protagonists lost family. I’m going to guess either through traditional ghosts or through the standard hallucinations that come along with using the term “Lovecraftian” when describing a game. It is not as early on in the development for this version of Black Mirror so it is hard to say that any of this could change along the way, but maybe it just hasn’t been described very well from THQ Nordic in the announcement here. Time will tell I guess…

Are you glad to see Black Mirror coming back in this way or were you hoping for a different spin-off or sequel to come out? How do you think the point-and-click mechanics will be used as inspiration for what will be in the final game here? Do you think that the term “Lovecraftian” is being overused for horror titles that happen to deal with insanity at the same time? Go ahead, post those comments down below, and then feel free to discuss it all there as well. For more on Black Mirror as we get it, be sure to keep yourself here. We will keep the information flowing on the site here and you may miss out if you are not paying attention here.
