Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth
A new Blade Runner game is on the way to us all with the announcement for Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth
Here we go, flying back into the famed IP once more and this time with the announcement for Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth. Another massive title coming out of Annapurna Interactive that will give us all something new for the IP, in video game form, for the PC and Consoles. Presumably, that means for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, but we will have to wait and see. Given how the previous Blade Runner title was, it could work on the Switch, but the visuals we do get in this reveal do make it feel like it is leaning toward a higher-end experience when it comes to the graphics. Something that the last console there would not be the best at. But I digress.
While not much to go on for Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth, we have a little teaser showing that we are heading back into the world and maybe not in the point-and-click adventure as before. This one looks like it could have more action mixed in, but trailers can be deceptive at times, and without gameplay, that is another thing to take note of. Thankfully, we do know that this will take place in the story right between the story of the two Blade Runner films. For those that remember those stories very well. It might just mean having another slow burn of a movie night just before this game launches. Time will tell.
Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth — Reveal
“Lots of people lost things in the Blackout. I was lucky, I just lost a job. But now they want me back.”
From Annapurna Interactive, Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth brings the revered franchise back to games for the first time in 25 years.
Set between the original film and 2049, Blade Runner 2033 takes place after the events of the Blackout and asks: what does a Blade Runner do when there are no Replicants left to hunt?
Developed and published by Annapurna Interactive.
As mentioned, there is not much else to go on for Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth from what we have here. We will still be out there hunting down Replicants and maybe this one will allow for some higher action than before. It does look as if our protagonist will be doing some basic research but also some use of the vehicles and maybe weapons along the way. It would be an interesting deviation to dig further into the action of it all instead of the higher concept that Blade Runner normally goes for. Sometimes it is just nice to get some basic style of games in the mix instead of the thinking human type of game.
Will this be more of the high concept for Blade Runner or could we see a different cop out there shooting things up after Replicants are outed? Does it matter when this game is happening or will it just be before those looking for all of the lore in the IP? Could this all lead up to the events of the latest film or will it just be a side story that has no bearing on the overall events in the world? Take all of that down into the comment section and then let those discussions fly. We will give you more for Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth as we get it all. Please keep a close eye on the site for all of those updates and everything else we can muster up.
