Call Of Cthulhu Takes Us On A Trip To Darkwater Island

Call Of Cthulhu

A few new screenshots for Call Of Cthulhu have been released as well as a great overview of what Call Of Cthulhu’s story is going to be all about

It looks like some new Call Of Cthulhu tidbits have crawled out of the abyss here and is ready to show us just a bit more on what the game will be all about. Updates have been very sparse since Cyanide Studios took over for the title and it looks like it is going to stay that way for just a bit longer. Unless Focus Home Interactive has some huge plans out there to shock and awe. Then again we still have a good chunk of time before the proposed 2017 release date for Call Of Cthulhu to finally land on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC so maybe we are getting ahead of ourselves here.

Anyways, if you direct your gaze just a bit lower down you can see two new screenshots for Call Of Cthulhu. Both of which are taken from the Darkwater Island location that it seems we will be investigating during the game. That does seem to be what the whole game is surrounded by given the updated information on the game’s story too. That is also a bit lower but it sounds like a standard cop looking into a murder mystery; only this one has all of the Lovecraft insanity mixed in and we get to see how that pans out on the other side of things.

In Call Of Cthulhu, players will control Edward Pierce, a former veteran and private investigator in 1920s Boston. Pierce will be investigating the tragic and mysterious death of Sarah Hawkins and her family in Darkwater Island. From the sinister docks, to the manor of the deceased family, Call Of Cthulhu offers a dark and oppressive ambiance that shall pay tribute to Lovecraft’s work and universe. Indeed, this banal investigation might lead you to more sinister forces and darker secrets buried deep within Darkwater Island.

While none of this seems like much as of yet, it is worth noting that these screenshots do look like something directly off the Call Of Cthulhu tabletop game. Of course the story also does too; based on experience. All of this does point to Cyanide being right on target to bring us that video game version of the franchise we’ve most likely wanted for a while now. At least I know it is for me and I hope we get an amazing showing of it all here soon. Hopefully by E3 is my personal hope…

What do you think about Darkwater Island here for Call Of Cthulhu based on the screenshots? Do you see the same thing I do between the tabletop game and the video game here? What do you think about the base story we have here now? Let us know and discuss as you wish in the comments below. For more on Call Of Cthulhu and all of its insanity be sure to stay right here as we will update and expand as we get all of the future details on the game.
