Capes Are On The Way To Save The Day Out There This Coming May

Capes

The release date for Capes is now set and we will be able to take on the superhero role again with Capes this coming May

Soon we will be able to fight back against the supervillains of the world with Capes getting a release date set for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. All the players are out for this one and Spitfire Interactive is almost done gearing everything up. That is, the release date is now set for May 29th for the game and we will soon be donning our capes and doing what they do best in this world. Something that we also get a little more of a taste for with the latest bit of story for the game. A release date, story overview, and a bit of new gameplay. Those villains have no clue what is coming for them now.

Now that we have a release date to look at for Capes, let us see what is going on in it all. As it turns out, the villains of the world have won and have been on top for over twenty years. Each time a new hero pops up, they are dealt with and the power struggle stays the same. In this place in the story, one of the last surviving heroes is taking a stand and gathering up other Capes to do the same. This team needs to work together and synergize all of their powers to make sure that they are able to bring order back from the chaos. It would be an odd way to tell the story if that was not going to be the case in this RTS title, but maybe we will see things subverted and it will be an amazing story on top of some amazing gameplay that we can see here.

Capes — Release Date

Spitfire Interactive and Daedalic Entertainment are happy to finally announce the release date for the highly anticipated turn-based superhero tactics game Capes. On May 29th the fight for King City begins. Coming to PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-orders now available on PlayStation and Switch.

The supervillains won. 20 years later, in a time when people with superpowers are arrested and taken off the streets, a ragtag group of young heroes fight to liberate King City. Under the questionable guidance of Doctrine, one of the city’s last surviving Capes, this new team must learn to work together, uncover The Company’s secrets, and find out whether they’re strong enough to become the heroes King City needs them to be.

Recruit other emerging superheroes and take on The Company across a challenging hand-crafted tactical campaign. Tackle smaller stakes and learn to wield your team’s powers in optional “patrol missions.”

Features:

  • Be Mighty: Play as a team of heroic protectors, each with unique skills and powers. Master each hero and unleash their devastating ultimate abilities!
  • Assemble Your Team: Combat isn’t based on raw strength. Choose your heroes wisely and combine their individual superpowers to create powerful combo attacks!
  • Level Up: Complete challenging missions and side-quests to gain XP and unlock your heroes’ potential with new abilities and powerful upgrades!
  • Defeat Evil: Face down vile villains, criminal corporate henchmen, and powerful bosses. Do you have what it takes to free your city from the clutches of villainy!?

Those who want to save the city with flair should consider the Capes: King City Edition, which launches simultaneously. The King City Edition includes the full game and the Supporters Pack filled to the brim with extra content including alternate hero appearances, an art book featuring more than 50 pages of the art behind Capes, and more.

I did not think that we were going to see Capes as soon as we are, but I am glad for it. Since other hero games have been getting shut down or not giving the best experiences, I am always willing to try a new IP to get that love back into the genre. It is a little odd for them to offer up a larger collection of the game with most of it being just the basic art, but I get that they want to make more money on it all. It is just weird since most of the characters in Capes are not going to be known to players before the launch and getting the art is not going to instantly sell anyone on them being their favorite instantly. I could be wrong. It is just how I see it and will stay hopeful that this one does well out there.

Where are you mentally when it comes to what Capes is offering up to the world? Will this be the hero game that brings more back into the fold or have the other IPs crushed this genre for now and we all need to recover from the fatigue? Would these cosmetics not be better to have as unlocks in the game after we get to know the characters or will this be a good selling point for you? Take to the comments and let the world know your thoughts about all of this there. We will have more to share for Capes as we get closer to the launch, so please keep on checking back here for all of those and the many others we have to come.
