Castlevania’s Creatures Of The Night Are On The Way To Dead By Daylight

Dead By Daylight

Dracula is on the way to Dead By Daylight with a new crossover between Dead By Daylight and Castlevania out there

It seems we have hit the video game crossover portion of the timeline for Dead By Daylight, as we just had Tomb Raider and now we have Castlevania. The IP that does seem to fit better into the world that Behaviour has built out there for sure. Especially as we know that Dracula will be the Killer brought in for the game and Trevor Belmont as the survivor we are going to have. Okay, maybe not Trevor being truly expected, but he does feel like a better fit into the world of Dead By Daylight in general for some reason. Maybe that is just me, though, but the rest of us will be able to find out on August 27th if it is the better fit.

In terms of what each will bring to Dead By Daylight, it looks like Dracula will be offering up a first for the game with some new shapeshifting abilities in the game. He will be able to take the form of a Bat to stealthily move about the map and hunt down the various Survivors. He will also be able to take the form of a wolf to help with the hunt and stalking as well. All to better get in close and use some of the fire abilities on them all too. Have a look at a bit of what will be in Dead By Daylight soon, if you are not playing the test build that is currently out there for Steam players at this moment.

Dead By Daylight — Castlevania

So comes the very night, accursed and ravenous. It spreads from Dracula’s Castle, through the woods and villages. Whispers of terror in the night. The vampire stirs. Available on August 6th via the Steam public test build, and officially releasing on August 27th, Dead By Daylight: Castlevania sinks its teeth into one of gaming’s longest-running series to bring Dracula and Trevor Belmont into The Fog.

An Immortal Franchise

It’s difficult to think back to a time in gaming without Castlevania, one of the most iconic series from Konami. First released in 1986 on the Famicom Disk System in Japan, then on the NES in 1987, and going strong ever since, the Castlevania franchise boasts a legacy almost as enduring as that of its main villain.

For many – those on the Dead By Daylight team included – the original Castlevania in all its 8-bit glory represented an early introduction to horror gaming. Countless titles, a hit animated series, and decades of intricate lore later, Castlevania continues to ascend the pantheon of horror with its arrival in Dead By Daylight.

Dracula’s powers and those of his castle are inextricably linked, and The Entity has brought both into its realm. Any time Dracula is the featured Killer in a Trial with an Original Map, players will see the ominous castle looming over the proceedings, perched on the horizon of that Map. The powers it bestows upon its master are enough to make even the most grizzled Survivor’s blood run cold.

Deadly as the wolf. Swift as the bat.

With Castlevania’s Dracula, Dead By Daylight welcomes both its first shapeshifting Killer, as well as its first vampire to The Fog. Regal, imposing, and wholly terrifying, Dracula’s disdain for humankind is matched only by his bloodlust – making The Entity’s Realm a perfect hunting ground for the nightwalker.

It is said the Dark Lord can take many forms, each one proficient in tracking and killing victims. As a Vampire he stalks his prey, able to conjure flames that sear flesh and render bone to ash. The Bat is as quiet as a creeping shadow, approaching at a moment’s notice and gaining ground with a blink. The Wolf is a relentless hunter, with a keen nose for fresh blood – even that which has yet to be spilled…

Survivor’s Bloodline

Tormented, exiled, and even cursed some say, the Belmont bloodline has stood between humanity and the forces of darkness for countless generations. Yet perhaps, no descendant of this clan is better equipped to take on The Entity’s Realm than new Survivor, Trevor Belmont.

First introduced in 1989’s Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Trevor may not be the brawniest Belmont, but his unique skillset serves to set him apart. From an innate ability to seek out allies and work as part of a team, to his unmatched skills as a vampire hunter, his values and will exemplify what makes the Belmont clan who they are.

Dead By Daylight: Castlevania is currently available as part of the Steam public test build. It releases officially on August 27th.

I am a bit confused about what Trevor brings to Dead By Daylight based on the description here, but it sounds like a lot of team buffs along with just having the extra prowess in the match. Along with the ability to stalk and hunt the killer too, as it all sounds. Even if it usually is not all about going on the offensive with these beings in The Fog. A Belmont does seem to be the best choice for all of that, though, so maybe we can start to see another shift in gameplay for Dead By Daylight coming. They did just offer up a whole new mode out there to help keep things fresh, so maybe we can see the hunters become the hunted soon.

Is this a crossover with Dead By Daylight that you have needed for a while now or is it just another way that Konami is trying to keep the IP alive still? Will we get to actually build a team of hunters in the game or will Trevor just give enough boosts to make it feel like we could take them all down? Will Dracula feel overpowered with a new ability that players have never had to deal with before or will there be a solid balance when it fully launches? Fly on down to the comment section to let us know those thoughts you are having about all of this. We will share everything else we can for Dead By Daylight, so please keep on coming back to see and hear all of that as it flows on out there.
