Cuphead
PS4 gamers can now experience Cuphead on the console as it launches today with a few additions for current Cuphead fans out there
It has been close to three years since Cuphead graced the Xbox One and PC with a shorter amount of time since it hit the Switch. Not to be left out, it looks like StudioMDHR is bringing the title over to the PS4. Yes, the bridge is finally being gaped for Cuphead here on all platforms now with it heading out there on July 28th 2020. Wait, that would be today and you can currently pick up and download the game as you are reading this. Talk about a sneaky release here and a nice little surprise that only started to be talked about last night. Time to give it all another go here.
This version of Cuphead will hold everything out there for the game to date, obviously, and all for the low price of $19.99 USD. Not too shocking and it does look like the DLC will be heading over here when it does finally get a release. Something that has yet to hit any other platform out there, so there is that to look forward to. Also, there is word of a few new features coming to the current versions of Cuphead out there with a free update that will add a digital art gallery, behind-the-scenes commentary features, and playable soundtrack to the game. All kinds of new things will be coming and all we have to do is wait.
Cuphead — PlayStation 4 Launch
Surprise! StudioMDHR was thrilled to announce in an interview with Geoff Keighley as part of the Summer Games Fest that their action-packed cartoon adventure, Cuphead is available today (7/28/20) on PlayStation 4 for $19.99 USD.
“Many of us on the team grew up exploring the worlds of classic PlayStation titles, from Resident Evil to Vandal Hearts,” says StudioMDHR Co-Director Chad Moldenhauer. “It’s surreal to think about players adventuring through the Inkwell Isles with a PlayStation controller in hand. To all the impassioned PlayStation fans who’ve sent us messages over the years: we’re so excited for you to get a chance to experience Cuphead firsthand. We’re also hugely thankful to the wonderful team at Xbox, who continue to empower us to bring our game and our story to new audiences.”
StudioMDHR also announced a free Special Update for Xbox fans. The forthcoming update will add a digital art gallery, behind-the-scenes commentary features, and playable soundtrack to the game. No date has been announced for this new update.
Cuphead launched in September of 2017 on Xbox and PC, to critical acclaim and commercial success. Since then the game has appeared on Nintendo Switch and has also gone to sell over 6 million copies across Xbox, Switch, PC, and Mac. Cuphead and his best friend Mugman will also hit screens around the world with their in-production family-friendly Netflix series, The Cuphead Show! But Cuphead and Mugman’s playable adventures are not over, and soon they will meet a new ally when Ms. Chalice takes the spotlight in Cuphead’s expansion, The Delicious Last Course! The team at StudioMDHR is hard at work cooking up this new adventure for hungry fans, and will have more to say on The Delicious Last Course in the coming months.
Did you expect that Cuphead would be coming to the PS4 or is this as much of a surprise as many are stating it to be? Do you think this will make the jump to the next-gen systems easily or will there need to be an update to hit those too? Do you think the DLC will hit all of the platforms at the same time or will there be some delays as we had for the core game release? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all. When we have more for Cuphead to share, we will share it all here. Be sure to keep checking in here for all of that and much more.
