Deceit 2 Is Opening Up To The Free-To-Play Model For Us All

Deceit 2

Deceit 2 is moving to a free-to-play model after a bit of a rocky launch and the pending release of Deceit 2 on the consoles

It looks as if there is some new life coming for Deceit 2 with the game heading out in a free-to-play model for those interested in the game. This is something that World Makers has already dropped out there for those who have been in on the PC version and will be coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on April 3rd for those who need to play the game there. All so we can give Deceit 2 another try and see if the social deduction game has made it to a place where it can overtake some of the tabletop versions of the same thing. No matter the case, we all will soon have a chance to experience what horrors the game has within it and see if we can sus out the enemy when it comes to the other players of the game.

In addition to Deceit 2 heading to a free-to-play model, we are getting the game’s latest DLC on the same day. A DLC that will add in a new terror, role, and location for us to play with in the game. It does look as if it will only be the location that all of us will get access to for free with the paid parts coming through with different “seasons” of content. They do need to make some of their money back on Deceit 2 and cannot just give us all this title out of the kindness of their hearts. It also makes it easier for them to bring themed content drops out there with skins and other elements to fit whatever holiday or time of year might be going on at the time. Not anything that we have not seen many other studios and publishers do, so it will be up to you to see if the cosmetics will be worth your money for this one.

Deceit 2 — Free To Play Launch

Deceit 2 is Free to Play on Steam and coming April 3rd to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S!

Deceit 2 is a matchmade social deduction horror game where two among you have been Infected. While the Infected do the bidding of the malevolent Game Master, the Innocent must work together to escape the Ritual and deduce who is plotting against them. Suspect someone? Rally your team to initiate the Banishing Ritual. To make things even more chaotic, you can now also play as a third team, the Cursed, who are solely out for themselves. When it’s time to Banish someone, choose wisely; a false accusation can sow seeds of doubt and turn allies into enemies. Your choices shape the game, making every match a unique battle of wits. Can you outplay the Game Master and escape the Ritual, or will you become another piece in his twisted game?

The Werewolf DLC includes the Wyrtorn Terror, a werewolf, and the first Terror to be added since the game’s initial launch. It will also include The Chemist role, a neutral Curse that must poison all other members of the group to win the Ritual. A new map, Project Wurgen, will also be available, set in a corrupt facility that bore witness to many inhumane experiments on animals which led to the creation of the Wyrtorn. This new location will be available for free to all players, so you can party up with anyone no matter if they own the expansion or not.

The new free-to-play era of Deceit 2 also introduces Seasons, events that will bring many new unlockables to reward playtime. The Pre-Season is now live in the game, and Season One, titled “Humble Beginnings”, kicks off on April 3rd and adds skins, loading screens, and more. The first batch of rewards lands on the event kick-off, with the rest coming shortly thereafter. You should also keep an eye out for an Easter-themed event — coming soon! New seasons are scheduled every two months, and will always feature new reasons to come back to the terror!

Key Features:

  • Gripping Matchmade Social Deduction Game: test your strategic thinking and powers of deception.
  • Dynamic Social Sandbox: an ever-changing set of tools and scenarios ensure that every Ritual is always different.
  • Rewards That Keep Coming: progression keeps the hunt for cosmetics fun, and new Seasons bring themed rewards, both free and with the Season Pass.
  • Consistent Content Updates: nine playable humans, two maps, two terrors, and six different roles, with more additions to come.
  • Everyone Is Welcome: the Ritual is open for anyone who dares as the game is now free-to-play.

I am curious to find out if this call was made due to the fact that Deceit 2 is not getting reviewed all that well currently on the PC. All so they can build up some hype and want for the game before it comes to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. It would make some sense, even if it does penalize those who took the chance on the game before now and paid the full price for it. I am sure that they will get some kind of reward for that or access to seasons of content. We will only have to wait and see when Deceit 2 kicks off all of the new stuff down the line and if the new pricing model will pull in more players. The lack of players could be a reason for it not doing so well and then needing to go free-to-play…

Have you given Deceit 2 a try before now or did you pass on it until it went free-to-play? Will those who paid full price for the game get any kind of bonus or will that be money lost and looked at as a future investment when the game takes off? Will the DLC release be steady enough to keep the pricing model going or will it be only a short time before we see this one fall to the waste? Head down to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else we have to share for the game. If we get more for Deceit 2, we will try to add it all to the site for you. Please keep on coming back here to see and hear about all of that as it does flow out there.
