Discover A Bit Of Life’s True Purpose With The Launch Of INDIKA

INDIKA

The launch of INDIKA is finally here and we can see just what INDIKA’s true life’s purpose is going to be

The day is finally here and we can take some of those final vows with INDIKA on the PC with those looking to do the same on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S still needing to wait just a little longer. Those looking to explore what Odd Meter has been building towards with all of the weird videos that 11 Bit Studios has been dropping out there, then today is that day to head back to the 20th-century Russian era and join Indika on this journey. One that we are finding out now will be much more than a walking simulation or a nun simulation game. Platforming, driving, and humor will be tossed right in for those who have been going down the wrong mental path up to now.

Some of these other gameplay elements we are speaking of have not been shown to us for INDIKA before now, but are on full display in the following launch trailer for the game. A little odd to do and hold off until the launch, but it does add a bit more of the mystery to what we are about to get ourselves into. An interesting thing but one we will only have to wait and see if it pays off for INDIKA. Especially with some of these gameplay elements being linked to a 16-bit style of gameplay out there and not the main fully-rendered stuff we have seen already. We knew this was going to be a weird game and now that it has launched, we are seeing it in full detail. Have a look and see if this further sells you on what the game has to offer up out there now.

INDIKA — Launch Trailer

What is INDIKA, you ask? The latest offering from 11 Bit Studios’ publishing division, INDIKA is set in a surreal version of early 20th-century Russia centering around a simple nun’s bizarre and spiritual journey. Developed by Odd Meter, players can now embark on this spiritual journey for themselves and delve into the deceptive nature of INDIKA’s story and gameplay.

As the launch trailer succinctly details it, INDIKA is the tale of a strong woman on a vital mission, uncovering her life’s true purpose. But beneath this surface, the easily observable outer layer, lies the soul, its inner depths waiting to be explored.

Blending gameplay elements from adventure TPP games—including perplexing environmental puzzles, and even a glimpse of platforming — INDIKA offers much more than meets the eye. Its aesthetics, design, and gameplay are influenced heavily by this genre mix, however, its true essence lies in delivering cinematic storytelling reminiscent of the arthouse works of Yorgos Lanthimos, Ari Aster, and Darren Aronofsky. INDIKA focuses on its core purpose by touching on philosophical beliefs and aiming to provoke reflection on delicate themes.

Is any of this what you expected from INDIKA or does it feel like the team was holding back on this just until now to shock us all? Will this new gameplay make sense in the larger narrative and be used in ways that are not just dream sequences? What other weird things will be hidden in this game down the line and will it all pay off as they are hoping? Take to the comment section to discuss all of this and everything else we have to offer up for you. If we get more to share for INDIKA, know that we will share it all here with you. Please keep on checking back in for all of those updates and many others as the world spins forward in time.
