Call Of Duty: Black Ops III
While At E3 I Was Able To See Call Of Duty: Black Ops III In A More Intimate Setting Than Just The Trailer. Here’s My Take On It
If there was one title that always has lines around the booth it is Call Of Duty and that was no different for Call Of Duty: Black Ops III as Treyarch was on the scene to give all of us gamers out there a great taste of things to come this November 6th on the PS3, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC. Well at least some of the things to come in terms of the multiplayer for Call Of Duty: Black Ops III as the campaign mode was better guarded this E3 than any other in the past. None the less we got to take the game for a spin in a nice dark room filled with allies and enemies to give the new stuff just for Call Of Duty: Black Ops III. Here’s how the experience went and we’ll see if I will be jumping back into multiplayer here this fall.
Right out of the gate we were all met with what looked like different classes for Black Ops III but given the time for the demo we did not get much of an overview for each. Besides the load outs of the standard killing gear it looked like each received their own little extra just for their own class. More so than we have seen in any other Call Of Duty title that I can remember. It looks like Treyarch is trying to go the distance to make each class feel truly different and not just look different but still just be all about shooting things up and calling it a day. It could just be me but that was one of the takeaways I had from this Call Of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer demo even though I was stuck with the one class set for the demo station. Not complaining but there was no changing.
Moving right along, we were placed in a few different match types that are nothing new for Call Of Duty: Black Ops III and have been a staple of the franchise since multiplayer was first added. What was interesting, even though it was only one level, is that the multiplayer levels feel extremely open and not as enclosed as I have experienced in the past. By that I mean that there are no invisible walls boxing you in as long as your enhanced jump and wall-run can get you to the location. For instance I was able to jet around a building instead of taking the normal path through and was able to ambush those lying in wait for those who would take the normal path. Or at least those who would take the “linear path” that the map has laid before them. Finally we won’t feel so boxed in; at least on the map I was able to experience.
Sadly though as these were just demos and little information was given before the Call Of Duty: Black Ops III multiplayer experience, everything else experienced was traditional FPS multiplayer shooting. None of the new gadgets and abilities seemed to be in use or the matches were happening too quickly for anyone to actually see how to activate any of the new things added in just for the world of Black Ops III. These would be all of the other cyber enhancements and abilities that we’ve seen in some of the trailers since the game was officially announced. I don’t blame Black Ops III for this but the setting and time given to make sure everyone had a chance to experience what multiplayer had to offer. That is the usual issue with these kinds of demos and events.
When all is said and done though Call Of Duty: Black Ops III‘s multiplayer and gameplay does look like it is going to have some solid things to offer; I was just not able to experience them in the flesh and only through the following trailers. Maybe after playing the game’s tutorials and the campaign mode I’ll be better equip to see if this will be the version of the game that sucks me back into the multiplayer world. At least Call Of Duty: Black Ops III does offer campaign co-op so that will be a great step for myself and others like me who enjoy the campaign more than the multiplayer in Call Of Duty‘s past. Time will just tell and we only have a short bit of time to have to wait.
Don’t let any of the letdowns above dissuade you from thinking I am excited to give Call Of Duty: Black Ops III a try. It is still a solid game on my radar and hope to see much more as we get closer to launch. I am sure that Treyarch and Activision still have plenty more to release before launch and we will have it all here just for you. Keep a sharp eye here as we will have it all as well as future opportunities to give Call Of Duty: Black Ops III a solid play. That means we’ll have other aspects to report on and you won’t want to miss out.
