Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare

While at E3 I was able to see Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare in a more intimate setting than just a trailer. Here’s my take on Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare

If there has been one title at E3 that had strong feelings on both sides of the coin it had to be Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. It had a lot of shade cast on it back when Infinity Ward first announced that it was coming on November 4th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Not because of it being yet another in the line of Activision‘s yearly Call Of Duty titles but because it looked too much like many other games out there and that it had lost its roots. At least that is all on the surface and many haven’t been able to go further behind the curtain…

Thankfully at E3 I was able to go behind the scenes and see what they had extra to show us for Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Un-thankfully it was just another sting of gameplay that made the whole game look a lot more like Advanced Warfare than a truly new addition into the franchise. This isn’t a huge let down to me as I rather enjoyed the last title but it doesn’t do a thing to push forward in the franchise or the genre. Some say that there isn’t much else that can be done but if that was the case then why keep giving us Call Of Duty with just some visual updates? Well besides the money.

I do have to say that the demo does look like the AI for Call Of Duty on both sides did look to have a bit of an upgrade to it all as both allies and enemies didn’t just stand around in cover waiting to get shot. Of course this could have all been scripted for the demo but I’d like to think that it was all fresh and true play. At least that would give us a solid reason to keep playing the game in non-multiplayer mode and still have a challenge. I know that is what I look for in the franchise and Infinity Ward has yet to let me down.

Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare — Ship Assault

I was hoping for a bit more on why we had a space setting in Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare but none of that was really touched upon in the demo I was shown. I have a feeling it is just where everyone thinks that we will inevitably go when it comes to warfare in our society but I am not saddened by the addition of it. In fact, I rather enjoyed the little bits we’ve had in the franchise already and hope this build upon the space gameplay for the franchise. Just don’t turn it into another Halo or Gear Of War game and try to keep it at its roots. Please…

Seeing as I get other things out of Call Of Duty titles than your other hardcore gamers I will not be among those casting shade upon the game just yet. It looks impressive and seems to have kept some of the mechanics I loved in the other titles even though they were crafted by other teams. My demo wasn’t overly impressive but that doesn’t lower my expectations just yet for the game. Maybe if I was more into the multiplayer and other aspects I could see myself being let down but not yet. I also hope that day doesn’t come but I guess we’ll see.
