Easy Fatalities & DLC Character Trials Coming To Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X

Mortal Kombat X will feature what is called “Easy Fatalities” as well as let you try the DLC characters in Towers Mode

It looks like Mortal Kombat X is getting two more features just for this version of the franchise that we have yet to see before. If you are an avid watcher of the Kombat Kast that NetherRealm has been doing almost every Friday up until now then you may have heard about Easy Fatalities. That’s one new feature coming just for Mortal Kombat X. The other is that there will be challenge towers that feature DLC characters that you can play through even if you don’t own the character outside of the tower. Pretty neat stuff to dig into here.

First up will be the “Easy Fatalities” for Mortal Kombat X. This new feature, that needs to be unlocked via gameplay, will allow users who have difficulties landing the combination of buttons to trigger the finishing moves and be in the correct location to just press one button and fire it off. So to speak. According to Tyler Lansdown from NetherRealm this won’t be available for all fatalities in Mortal Kombat X but just enough to allow novice players to enjoy one of the fun aspects of the game without months of training and memorizing codes.

Sadly that is all we have on the easy fatalities for Mortal Kombat X as that is all that was mentioned during the stream. You can see all of that in the following video just in case you missed out last week.

Next up on the plate for Mortal Kombat X is a bit on the Towers that will be in the game. These can range in many different forms which have been shown in past Mortal Kombat titles and videos. In a recent interview though Ed Boon spoke about how some of the Living Towers will feature one specific character to complete the challenges. The kicker? If you don’t own said character you will still be able to play the Tower challenges and also get a feel for how the character plays. In the example given he spoke on Jason but he did indicate that it could be for any character that isn’t part of the core Mortal Kombat X.

“Every day when you come on, there’s going to be three Towers in the Living Towers section. One changes every hour, one changes every day, and one is called a Premiere Tower, which is like an event tower. So for instance, if Jason comes along, we’re going to have a Jason Tower, where you play as Jason and fight up in it — and you can even use that tower if you didn’t even purchase Jason. So it’s really cool, it gives players a taste of what the character is like to play.”

Now that is an amazing feature to have for Mortal Kombat X and I am glad to see it in there. Not to mention that it is a great ploy to get people to drop more money on Mortal Kombat X if they do fall in love with a character that is only DLC. I wish Mortal Kombat 9 had this as I have still been reluctant to give Freddy a download even though he is one of my favorite horror icons to date. We just need a Captain Spaulding or Oderus Urungus fighter and then NetherRealm will have my wallet no matter if I do play the DLC character before I purchase.

Do you think these are both great addition to the franchise in Mortal Kombat X? Do you care as you most likely have already dropped the cash to have the Kombat Pack and Goro already? What other DLC characters do you think should be in Mortal Kombat X? Let us know down in the comments below.
