Encryption Is Announced & Aims To Give Us Some New Italian Horror

Encryption

A new horror title, Encryption, has been announced with a demo for Encryption playable for Halloween

We have to love this time of year, as all of the horror video games get announced, and here we go with Encryption. A new title is on the way from the Italian developer Digital Lighthouse Games that is aiming to take us all into some new devastation. Both in the form of the video game, but also in the subject matter that Encryption is going to be covering for us when we play it all on the PC. That’s also something you can do right now, and until November 2nd, if all of the rest catches your eye and pulls you in deeper to the horrors that we can see. Let’s all have a look and see just what is burning up the current state of the Scream Fest that’s going on.

If you need more than that to sell you on the demo for Encryption, and potentially the full release in 2027, then let’s dig into it all. This is a new first-person psychological horror title that is on the way. It is set against the backdrop of wildfires that are sweeping through southern Italy. We play as Leonardo, who is searching for his daughter in the mix. Fairly straightforward, until you see that Encryption is also going to take us into some of the oldest places on Earth that humans have been, and some other ancient cities along the way. We know where that usually goes, and it looks like that’ll be the case with all of the puzzles and stealth we’re going to need to employ to survive all that we can out there. If that sounds like something you’ll want to experience, then have a look at the little announcement video that we have for the game, then give the demo a play while you can.

Encryption — Announcement

Italian developer Digital Lighthouse Games is inviting players to step into the terrifying world of Encryption, their first-person psychological horror adventure, with a free playable demo available during Steam Scream V Fest, running from 26th October to 2nd November 2026.

Set against the backdrop of devastating wildfires sweeping through southern Italy, Encryption follows Leonardo, a desperate father searching for his missing daughter, Arianna. His journey takes him to Matera, one of the oldest inhabited places on Earth, where deserted streets and the encroaching flames conceal something far more sinister lurking beneath the ancient city.

Blending atmospheric exploration, environmental puzzles, and stealth-driven survival, Encryption brings the haunting landscapes of southern Italy and Matera to life using advanced 3D laser scanning and photogrammetry technology. Recreated in Unreal Engine, its richly detailed environments provide the setting for a psychological horror experience where every sound could attract unwanted attention, and danger awaits around every corner.

Players can experience Encryption for themselves by downloading the demo on Steam between 26th October and 2nd November. The full game is scheduled to launch on PC in 2027 and is available to wishlist now.

Do you think that there will be something truly sinister going on in the world of Encryption? Could the fires be caused by something from a different plane of existence? Will we find our daughter in the mix of all of the chaos? Will it be fun to go through many of the locations that are being brought to life with the 3D scanning technology from real places? Let’s talk about all of that down in the comment section of the page. We’ll have to see where things go for Encryption, and we’re excited to see how that all plays out. You’ll want to watch the site and follow all of our socials to see where it all goes from here as well. It is a new horror title to enjoy, so you know we’ll be all over it as best we can.
