Histera
A bit of the gameplay overview for Histera is out there just before the Early Access for Histera lands out there
With the announcement of Histera‘s Early Access not long ago and May 16th coming up fast, we should have a look at just what the game is going to have inside beyond just being an area shooter. StickyLock Studios has put more than that in, and here we get a good look at “The Glitch” that will be happening in the game. This is the part of Histera that will further dictate the arena and eras that they are all set within. Not only that, but also helps to shake things up and add that extra layer of chaos to the game. This is a genre of video games that does need a good shaking up to make sure players do not just camp out and dominate over everyone, after all.
While the basics make it sound as if The Glitch in Histera will be the reason there are different eras of history on the map, it is actually the mechanic that will shift the five different zones on the map more than that. At random intervals, with a little pulse beforehand, The Glitch will start phasing one zone’s era into another. Each match will have three different ones it shifts between. During the shift, it looks like the walls and environment will be intangible so you can run through them, but we will take damage if they start to solidify before you get to a safer location. A nice bit of chaos to the matches in Histera while also forcing the map to change and maybe putting new walls where they never have been before. Have a look and see all of that in action as we wait for the Early Access to shift into existence out here.
Histera — The Glitch
The Glitch opens up new strategic opportunities, forcing players to constantly reassess their surroundings and adjust their tactics on the fly. Yes, the Glitch is not without its risks. But it does come with rewards.
So, ready your weapons, steel your nerves, and prepare to dive headfirst into the heart of the Glitch on May 16th!
The first Eras to be included in Histera are futuristic Montorro City, the prehistoric Pliocene Plateau, and war-torn mid-20th century Novgorod. With the Glitch, the maps of these different eras can transform, posing both possibilities and challenges for players. Two gameplay modes will be available at the launch of Early Access: team deathmatch, where the goal is to eliminate the enemy as often as possible, and territory control, in which areas must be claimed and secured. Histera will receive regular updates both during its Early Access phase and beyond. The official road map highlighting the studio’s future plans will follow once the game has launched in Early Access.
Key Features:
- The Glitch: adjust your strategy to take advantage of the chaos caused by the Glitch. Master different terrains in the past, present, and future, and push yourself to the limit as you rush to adapt and gain (or keep!) the advantage every time the Glitch occurs. The team that can best adapt to Histera’s unpredictable, time-distorting mosh pit will claim victory!
- High Replayability: with the Glitch mechanic transforming the map in the midst of the action, no two rounds of Histera will play out the same.
- Mix It Up: battle through prehistoric caves, a WW2 city under siege, and the neon-bathed streets of a dystopian metropolis wielding anything from spears to machine guns as time periods collide.
- Choose Your Weapon: use a wide variety of weapons to withstand the chaos wrought by the Glitch — will you stay in the shadows with a prehistoric hunting bow, or get up close with The Matchstick, a futuristic shotgun that can be loaded with incendiary rounds?
- Versatile FPS Gameplay: perfect for easygoing fans of the shooter genre looking for something different as well as hardcore gamers seeking their latest challenge.
I really dig this kind of mechanic coming in Histera and hope it is more of a procedural thing than just shifting in the same map from WWII or the Future. That would certainly make things a little duller when it comes to the idea of the gameplay. Not to mention, allows for some to learn those maps and be able to slide into a spot during The Glitch and then dominate more. We will certainly see soon, though, as I am sure gamers will figure all of this out quickly after Histera launches out there. Yet another reason why I tend not to go with Early Access titles in the mix and will wait for all of the bugs and balancing to get ironed out first. That is just me, though…
How are you feeling about this gameplay mechanic coming in Histera? Do you think it will truly be as chaotic as it sounds or will it only add a bit of a variable to mix of things? How long do you think we are going to have to run through walls before we take too much damage to keep playing? Run on down to the comment section and let us all know your thoughts about all of this. As more for Histera flows out there, we will add it all to the site for you. Please keep a close eye on it all so you are able to keep as up-to-date as it is possible. Unless things shift out there beyond what we can all handle.
