Why I Am Not Excited About Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Am I the only one who is disappointed by the new Borderlands game announcement?

I have been a fan of Borderlands since its release day. I have played both games on all three platforms. Each time the game looks the best to me on the PC. Contrary to the evidence, I am not a PC elitist. The game just seems to pop a little better when ran at max settings on a PC. That is why when I heard that we were getting a new Borderlands game I was a happy camper.

Then I read that it was going to be built on the same engine as Borderlands 2. At first this got me angry. After calming down I continued reading with the soul thought justifying what I had just read “At least they will be able to make it look extremely good on the next gen consoles.” Needless to say I was a little more than disappointed.

So far there hasn’t been any indication that it will come out at all for any next gen console. Why not if you have the option to utilize next gen hardware to polish it up a bit? You may be asking why I am upset if I am going to get the PC version anyways. This is because I know it won’t be any kind of a step up from the last game. I see it as an insult.

It just looks like one big glorified DLC pack. Maybe the gameplay will be engaging enough to save it. While I am sure the story mode won’t be lacking, will we feel any impact from it? We know what happens. Will this game have a ton of DLC for it as well? I have purchased most of the DLC for Borderlands 2 but I haven’t bought all of it. This means I haven’t been able to fully explore the game world. It makes me feel like this is a quick cash grab rather than a game they have put a lot of time and care into. On the other hand, since Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel hasn’t been announced for next gen consoles hopefully Gearbox feels it is a solid enough game to still sell on the last generation.

Hopefully with time my mind will change. I really want Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel to be awesome. I just want the new game to be something a bit different. Better in every way you could say. If you have any opinions on this subject please feel free to leave them in the comments.
