Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water Will Be Snapping Us Back In October

Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water

The release date for Fatal Frame: Maiden In Black Water is set down in October now and we can gear up to take on the spirits in Fatal Frame once more

It looks as if our assumptions paid off and now we know we will be seeing Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water launching again on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Switch, and PC in October. To be specific, October 28th will be when we can expect to see this one out there and aim to take more pictures of the restless dead with our super camera. That is a way over-simplification for the idea of the gameplay for Fatal Frame but does cover the basics for those completely new to the IP and looking to have a good horror game for the Halloween season. That is what we are all normally looking for when it comes to this time of year and everything that could go along with it, is it not?

With this new announcement for Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water, we also have a new gameplay overview for the game to take in. More or less, it walks us through some of the locations of the game and how we will need to use our camera to attack these vengeful spirits out there and get to see some of their memories. The closer we get and the better the shot, the more damage we do here and that is how we weaken them all down. Fairly basic things for it all. All of which should help lend themselves to the new Photo Mode we are getting in this Fatal Frame. Not a clever play on words for it all but a mode that we have in so many other games that will allow us to take and save our snapshots along the way in the game. Kind of a cool thing that is weird to see take so long to become official in the mix.

Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water — Overview

Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water the spine-chilling adventure launches digitally on October 28, 2021 across North America on Nintendo Switch/PS4/PS5/Xbox One/Xbox One X|S, PC Steam.

Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water is an enhanced version of the 2014 Wii U release of the same name, allowing players on all platforms to enjoy this unique horror experience. Players will step into the shoes of Yuri Kozukata, Ren Hojo, and Miu Hinasaki as they venture up the eerie Mt. Hikami in hopes of finding those who have previously disappeared. In order to overcome the malevolent spirits housed in the mountain’s waters, they will have to master the Camera Obscura – a unique camera that can deal damage to ghosts upon taking a photo. Each successful shot will cause a spirit to emit Spirit Fragments and if players are able to capture an image of the ghost and these mysterious fragments in the same frame, they will unleash a high-damage Fatal Frame attack. Upgrading the camera’s parts, such as equipping a stronger lens or changing out the film, allows more powerful images to be taken, giving players more protection as they venture further up the mountain. When a ghost has been defeated, the camera is able to perform the Glancing ability to uncover the ghost’s past – helping to uncover the truth behind the disappearances on the mountain.

New to this enhanced version is a brand-new Photo Mode where players can use any character or ghost from their adventure, position them on a background of their choice, while adding a variety of effects (lens type, frame choice, focus, etc.) to make the perfect scary photo. New costumes and accessories have also been added including Yuri’s ‘Punk Ensemble’, ‘Cutesy Goth Ensemble (Black)’, ‘Swimsuit (Blue)’, and the ‘Triathlon Suit’ as well as Miu’s ‘Miku Hinasaki Outfit (The Tormented)’, ‘Cutesy Goth Ensemble (White)’, ‘Swimsuit (Yellow)’, and ‘Swimsuit (Pink)’, along with Ren’s ‘Groom’s Outfit’.

Did you also expect to see this Fatal Frame hit just before Halloween or did you suspect a different day? Are you surprised it took so long to get one of these titles with a true Photo Mode or was it just waiting for the hardware to be able to get us here? Do you think the next option for the IP is to go into the virtual space with the camera or will that be a step too far? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss it all if you so wish. We will keep all of the news and information flowing out to you as best as we can. Just be sure to keep checking back in for all of that and much more for Fatal Frame: Maiden Of The Black Water as we get closer to the big day.
