Final Fantasy VII Remake’s Combat Is Going To Feel New But Also Nostalgic

Final Fantasy VII Remake

The next developer diary for Final Fantasy VII Remake is here to show us how the combat and action has evolved since the first outing for Final Fantasy VII

Here we go with another, and most likely one of the last, developer diary for Final Fantasy VII Remake and this one is all about the combat and action in the game. This is something that has been a hot topic since Square Enix first let people outside the company play the game. Many will remember the original Final Fantasy VII used a turn-based and command-based system, which not exactly what we are all going to get here on April 10th when it hits the PS4. There will be elements, sure, but the system has been revamped and still aiming towards the more recent action-based systems that are still all the rage for some reason.

For those that are not aware, Final Fantasy VII Remake will flow a bit more like some of the other action-based systems that the developers have placed out there. There will still be some command systems in there and the option to slightly go back to the original system with time slowing down to hit the commands and the party going on auto-combat to assist. All of which is to make sure that you are always engaged with Final Fantasy VII and not just going through the paces. Which, after seeing it in that light, makes me a bit more excited for the new systems as I do remember many times in the past of just auto pressing buttons to move along to get to the next story part.

There is a bit more for Final Fantasy VII Remake in here in terms of Materia and character progression, but not great detail. I am sure that will all come to light right from the start of the game when we play it as they have a full Materia and Summon system already there in parts of the game that did not have it before. At least not in any kind of real depth. Although, I think the one thing I am interested to see how it will flow will be the Summons that will scale in size to better fit the environment instead of the world-breaking ways they entered in the original Final Fantasy VII. All to better fit the immersion of it all.
