Final Fantasy XV’s Combat Has Huge Changes From What We Knew

Final Fantasy XV

New gameplay footage for Final Fantasy XV has been released and it looks like Final Fantasy XV is deviating a bit more from the formula we once knew

We had a nice look at some of the stealth action coming for Final Fantasy XV in the near future already but during the last Active Time Report over the weekend we had some new gameplay footage that shows all of that have a huge change since last we knew. Square Enix still hasn’t fully defined out for us all on how it will fully play out when all is said and done but those who have played the early demo of Final Fantasy XV on the PS4 or the Xbox One may be seeing things altered a bit more. In fact it looks like the team is trying to make the game open for even non-fans of the franchise here.

Just below you can see some new gameplay footage for Final Fantasy XV and a few new screen shots. Here we get to see that stealth mode that was talked about in action as Noctis moves about the area getting his assassin on. Looks like pages from Hitman and Thief were taken when looking at Final Fantasy XV here. Also, when the shit hits the fan, it looks like Parasite Eve and Kingdom Hearts make their full appearance as the combat and magic systems look to be using what made those franchises so popular back in the day. Man I wish we could get a Parasite Eve remake or true sequel.

Have a look for yourself and see where the combat of Final Fantasy XV has evolved to.

Final Fantasy XV — Niflheim Base Battle Footage

I’m sure you stayed until the end so you most likely saw a new character added into the mix for Final Fantasy XV. She is the one that jumped in right at the end and you can see in the following screenshots. Her name is Aranea Highwind and she leads part of the Niflheim army as a Dragoon. Yes, you read that Dragoons will be back in Final Fantasy XV here but as far as extent that is still up in the air. Pun intended. I am sure that we will get more in the next huge ATR where all of the ins and outs of Final Fantasy XV will be revealed to the world. I hate the waiting Square Enix.

Lastly, it you want to have a nice recap in English for what else was covered on Final Fantasy XV during the recent ATR then you are in luck. Here we have a nice little recap of all the announcements and discuss that took place. You can also re-watch it with the subtitles and hope that there is nothing lost in translation but I would suggest at least starting here. Final Fantasy XV is going to be one hells of a beast once it finally launches at some point this year. We’ll of course know a lot more come this March.

What do you think about Final Fantasy XV‘s combat system here? Do you think I am on par with my comparisons to the other IPs held by the publisher? Do you think this will make Final Fantasy XV more or less accessible to new players of the franchise or the neigh sayers of the past? Let us know and discuss away in the comments below. As we get more out of Square Enix in terms of Final Fantasy XV we will have it here on the site. Be sure to keep your eyes locked into the site for more as we get ever closer to the final release date.
