Outlast 2
The first screenshot for Outlast 2 has been released to show how evolved the gameplay will be in Outlast 2 over its predecessor
It has been a few months since we had a nice teaser for Outlast 2 and some form of update on the game progress in development from Red Barrels. As we roll into 2016 we are most likely going to get a whole lot more on this amazing horror game that is still slated for a Halloween release on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. For now though it looks like we are going to have to deal with just a nice little screenshot from the game to keep our blood boiling and ready for Outlast 2 in some form. Or you know; you can just go play Outlast again and get a good fright.
When the first teaser came out we were all old that Outlast 2 was going to go to a much darker place and also bring up the questions about blind faith. I took that as having some great religious overtones and that always gets people all riled up. From the following shot for Outlast 2 I am not as much seeing that, unless you want to look at the pickax as a deformed cross, but more of a Crazies vibe for the game. Granted that could lead to some other dark places in Outlast 2 if my assumptions ring true but I am hoping for something else when all is said and done.
“No conflict is ever black and white. But once the dust has settled, the victors get to decide who was right and who was wrong. Who is good and who is evil. Human nature pushes us to extremes of violence and depravity, which we then justify by divine inspiration and a promise of paradise to come. Horror rises from desperation and blind faith. Outlast 2 will test your faith, pushing players to a place where going mad is the only sane thing to do.”
I do think that it is worth noting here for Outlast 2 that it does look like Red Barrels are perfecting their craft even more in the visuals department. Not to say that Outlast didn’t look to be using everything that the Unreal 4 engine had to offer but that game engine has evolved so much and Outlast 2 looks to be profiting from that advancement in great ways. Of course this is only a still shot and not live gameplay so things could be muddled here. I don’t see that being the case for Outlast 2 though and now I want a gameplay trailer more than anything.
What do you think about Outlast 2‘s screenshot here? Does it look like it has progressed by leaps and bounds over the last title? How deep down the religious rabbit hole do you think that we are all going to go in Outlast 2 for the sake of fear? Let us know and discuss away in the comments below. As we get further updates for Outlast 2 out of Red Barrels we will have them here so be sure to check back in and uncover your fearful eyes so you can have the gouged out right here. In terms of Outlast 2 updates and not sharp metal.
