Freedom Is Waiting For You In With The Launch Of The Outlast Trials

The Outlast Trials

The world of Outlast is back for us all with the full launch of the “V1” version of The Outlast Trials

The full version of the trials are now ready for us as The Outlast Trials fully launches on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It has been a fun ride out there since Red Barrels opened up the Early Access for the game a little under a year ago, and now we can see just how that all panned out for us all. All so we can enter back into the universe of Outlast and deal with all of the horrors and terrible beings that live in it. That is what the bad doctor of the experiment is aiming for with all of this in the game. For us in the living world, it will be a dark and horror-filled experience that will be growing well beyond this latest 1.0 version of the game.

To help usher in this full release that we now have for The Outlast Trials, we have one more video for the game to help sell those who have been holding off. This single-player or co-op title is not just about running for your life and trying to survive those sadistic killers set out there. There also looks to be a bit of a community aspect to the game so we can build up some other strengths for when we are sent back into The Outlast Trials. That and make sure our murder survival is filled with a little bit of happiness in the mix too. That is, we will have access to further decorate our cells and meet other characters in the world to further build out the lore. All of this is something I am sure that many out there have had a chance to experience, but for those who held out until this launch, it is a nice little extra to know is out there so it is not all blood and gore the whole time.

The Outlast Trials — Welcome To The Trials

Red Barrels has launched a thrilling survival horror cooperative multiplayer take on its critically acclaimed and terrifying Outlast franchise… The Outlast Trials is now available for digital download on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.

The Outlast Trials “V1” release today is the culmination of invaluable player feedback received since its Early Access launch on PC in May 2023, with over 1.6 million copies sold worldwide. From fresh content and significant enhancements, new Trials and character customization options, weekly challenges, controller support, and cross-play between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox gamers, Red Barrels has continually evolved what was already a terrifying survival horror experience.

It’s 1959, and the transnational Murkoff Corporation is using a recruitment agency to identify potential test subjects to turn into the perfect sleeper agents. These “Reagents” are forced to undergo terrible physical and psychological trials, until they have been conditioned for perfect obedience and are ready to be released back into society, waiting to be triggered at an opportune time.

Players take on the role of one of these untrained civilians, and can fully customize their look, as well as their cells in the Sleep Room — the area where Reagents can meet the unique denizens, unwind in between Murkoff’s harrowing experiments, or face off against other test subjects with chess or arm wrestling.

I have been waiting for The Outlast Trials to hit this point in the development and am glad to see it is finally here. I am sure there are many others who are of the same mindset too. It is interesting to see that there will be a lot more going on outside of the survival aspects of it all, but that should have been a given with a non-stop horror romp that would lose some of the terror without a bit of happiness to break it all up. I just hope that The Outlast Trials has some staying power and we see it further expanded so we do not need to wait a long time again to get more content for this sick and twisted world out there. This does feel like a version of things that could have more areas and killers added in with some ease now that the main ball is rolling out there and the team should only have to truly worry about massive bugs and crashes.

Have you been waiting to enter back into the Outlast universe until this launch or have you been playing since the Early Access? How do you feel about the more mundane aspects of the game and will they add that needed break so the horror can truly hit as hard as they all want it to out there? Will we see this one expanded further down the line or will we get these two big baddies and then have to wait as the team moves on to a different project? Sneak into the comment section below and discuss it all while you are taking breaks between trials here. There is going to be more for The Outlast Trials, I am sure, so please keep your eyes here so you are able to stay up on all of it as we get it. It is the darkness here that highlights the darkness out there, that is for certain…
