Get Ready To Stand With Your Brothers In Far Cry 5’s Hours Of Darkness

Far Cry 5

The first major DLC for Far Cry 5 has been given a date and we will soon be taking the fight to Vietnam in Far Cry 5

Get ready for a new fight in Far Cry 5 here soon as the release date for the first expansion in the Season Pass has been dated. Hours Of Darkness will be the first bit of DLC that Ubisoft will have for us on our PS4, Xbox One, or PC on June 5th at least for those who have already picked up the Season Pass or are looking to drop a few extra bucks on the game. As if there was not already enough to do in Far Cry 5, we will have a whole lot more and be leaving the lands of Montana for the jungles of Vietnam. I guess that also means there will be a time shift as well as it is at the height of the conflict that we all associate with the lands there. At least here in America.

With the release date announcement for the DLC here, we also have a teaser for the adventure and just how it will all link into Far Cry 5 proper. I would have figured it would have been some level of drug trip given all of the teases before, but it looks more to be linked to Wendell Redler and his experiences over there. If I had to guess now, it will all be done in a “flashback” kind of manner but using all of the mechanics of the current game. A solid way to do it here and bring in some new gear and abilities for us to play with on our own or in Far Cry 5‘s multiplayer aspect. Also to introduce us to the new Survivor Mode and Action Movie Mode that will unlock after wrapping up this part of the story.

Also as promised, on May 24th there will be an update to the Far Cry Arcade that will add all of these Vietnam-themed items into the mix for players to work with and create. It seems odd to release it all a little earlier than the core DLC, but we can take what we get when we get it, right? Of course, we will. All for the low, low price of FREE. So even if you opt to not take on this Far Cry 5 DLC, you will have the ability see some of it and put it into action. Little things…

Far Cry 5 — Hours Of Darkness Teaser

Today, Ubisoft announced Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness, the first post-launch adventure, will release on June 5th across all platforms. The first DLC will transport players back in time as they play Hope County’s Wendell “Red” Redler, who must find and rescue his fellow squad members from hostile forces during the Vietnam War. Hours of Darkness can be purchased as a standalone DLC or as part of the Far Cry 5 Season Pass and Gold Edition.

Far Cry 5: Hours of Darkness transports players into a war-torn Vietnam as they relive the harrowing experience of Wendell Redler from the main campaign of Far Cry 5. Playable in solo or online co-op, Hours of Darkness transports players from rural Montana to a dangerous jungle where they must rescue imprisoned squad mates, wreak havoc on the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army, and fight to get back home. This first DLC adventure will feature new gear and abilities as well as two different playable modes that will be unlocked after completing Hours of Darkness: Survivor Mode, giving players a limited loadout for a more challenging playthrough, and Action Movie Mode, where a generous loadout delivers over-the-top action.

In addition to the DLC, all Far Cry 5 players will have access to new Vietnam-themed assets in Far Cry Arcade available on May 24th with the release of the Vietnam title update. Map builders will be able to integrate these assets into their existing maps or create new maps focused on the Hours of Darkness theme. All future DLC will also include thematic assets that will be added to Far Cry Arcade for free.

Are you fully ready to head off to Vietnam in Far Cry 5 or do you need to rush to get to that point in the core game? Do you like that it will be telling a story from one of the core characters or did you think it was going to be some other form Ubisoft came up with? Are you just glad to see that you will be getting more assets to play with no matter how you feel about the DLC here? Let us all know down in the comments and then feel free to discuss as you wish.
