Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite
New gameplay for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite was shown during SDCC as well as a new level for Marvel Vs Capcom and new fighters
Not the biggest of surprises out of SDCC this year was another announcement for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite in terms of characters, levels, and Infinity Stones that we will get to use in the game. I say it wasn’t much of a surprise given the fact that both Capcom and Marvel are well known to be at the convention every year and have such a strong presence that it would have been a letdown for there to be nothing. With Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite still launching on September 19th for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One, they still have a way to go in terms of showing it all off so it would make perfect sense we’d see some new characters, levels, and stones here. I’m talking Infinity Stones here and not something else…pervs…
Anyways, during the convention we were all treated to a new gameplay trailer for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite showing off some more Gamora, but also adding into the mix Frank West, Haggar, Nemesis, and Spider-Man. Yet another of the Marvel properties that are doing well in the box office and held by the studio a bit firmer and then a lack of other characters gamers want in Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite but are outside of that hold. I’m not going to drop names, but I’m sure if you are a fan of the franchise you know exactly who I am alluding to here and need no further prompting.
In addition to all of the above characters, we also get a good look at the new A.I.M.Brella level in Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite which is how some of the explanation of Umbrella and M.O.D.O.K. are still controlling the crossed universes. I guess it would make sense for the two of them to team up and keep their fingers on the trigger of the heavy hitters for both sides. Now if only we could get some of those iconic looking characters in the background to jump out and join the fight. Damn all of those licensing rights and all that stuff.
— Gameplay Trailer 4
Nemesis
A B.O.W., developed by Umbrella Corporation and programmed to eliminate S.T.A.R.S., the elite Raccoon City police unit that discovered Umbrella’s secret development of bioweapons. Captured and reprogrammed to serve M.O.D.O.K. after A.I.M. and Umbrella Corporation merged into A.I.M.Brella. With his rocket launcher, armored attacks and command grabs, he can be devastating up close and from afar.
Haggar
A former professional wrestler who became mayor of Metro City. He is famous for calling himself the “Fighting Mayor” as he teams up with friends to battle against Mad Gear gang, a crime syndicate that plagues Metro City. New to Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, Haggar is able to pull barrels out of his back pocket, helping him chase down even the most elusive opponents.
Frank West
A photojournalist famous for covering a zombie outbreak at a shopping mall and rescuing its survivors. This experience taught him to get creative and utilize objects in his surroundings as deadly weapons. With Frank West being a professional photographer, it only makes sense for him to take a steady shot while in action with his new tripod camera. He can also wear the patented Servbot helmet, letting him fly through projectiles and extend his combos.
Spider-Man
The bite from a radioactive spider granted Peter Parker arachnid-like powers. After losing his beloved Uncle Ben to a thief he chose not to stop, Peter learned that with great power there must also come great responsibility, and vowed to use his incredible abilities to protect the city as the Amazing Spider-Man! Between his huge arsenal of web-based attacks and new Level 3 hyper combo, he has no problem keeping his opponents off guard.
Gamora
The last of her race, Gamora was taken in by Thanos and raised as a ruthless assassin. However, she turned on her adoptive father and now uses her skills to help those who cannot help themselves. Known as the “Most Dangerous Woman in the Universe,” Gamora travels with the Guardians of the Galaxy, wielding a fearsome and deadly arsenal. Most notably, her sword Godslayer, which is capable of cutting through the most durable substances in the universe.
The Mind Stone
The fifth announced Infinity Stone for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. This stone brings a command grab type of attack to its wielder in the air and on the ground. Upon landing a successful Infinity Surge attack, the opponent will fall to the ground and wake up in a daze, giving the wielder plenty of time to set up their next attack. Activating the Infinity Storm gives players a boost in hyper gauge regeneration. Hyper gauge will naturally increase without performing any additional actions, letting players build up their powerful super attacks much faster.
Lastly, we also have a look at the Mind Stone in action here for Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite. It adds a command grab to the move list of the team using the stone as well as causes a daze effect on the opponent after the Infinity Surge attack lands a hit. If you activate the Infinity Storm aspect though, it looks like you will be getting a super charge to the Hyper Gauge so you can pull off even more of those super moves and combos in Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite in quick succession. Kind of the right level of game-breaking that the Infinity Stone should be bringing to the match to level the field for you and the others out there.
Are you shocked that we have Spider-Man in Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite here or was that just the character you were expecting to see given the film and presence at SDCC? Do you think that we may ever see M.O.D.O.K. or those other mentioned characters that are missing in the game or will Capcom be hamstrung based on the big franchises being pushed right now? What do you think of the power the Mind Stone brings with it? Let us all know what you are thinking down in the comments and then discuss. For more on Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite and any of the new characters and powers being shown off, keep your gaze right here. We will bring all of the updates that we can.
