The first big trailer for the Street Fighter movie is here, and it looks to take us back to the classic Street Fighter roots
There’s been a whole lot out there for the upcoming Street Fighter movie up to now, including some little controversies between other IPs. It’s been all good fun with casting announcements and various other things, but now, we get to see how it is all truly coming together with the latest trailer that we have for the film. One that seems to highlight the main story and many of the fighters we have had announced before now. The excitement has built up, and now, we’re here to see if Street Fighter is going to be the film that makes up for all of the other ones we have had in the past already. Let’s have a look and see if this is going to bring us all out to the theaters on October 16th this year…
Feel free to head down and watch the new trailer for Street Fighter just a bit lower. Before you go in, though, take note that it looks as if the team is taking the game back to the weirdness of the video games instead of placing it firmly in the real world. We are not just getting characters in costumes and weird painted people in this one. We are getting the over-the-top moves, silliness of them all, and many fireballs tossed around. As we focus on Ken making a comeback into the world, and all of the other fighters entering the World Warrior Tournament for their own reasons. Along with many classic characters and a few deeper cuts into the expanded titles we have had for so very long in our arcades and homes. Have a look and see if it is going to get you excited.
Street Fighter — Official Trailer
FIGHT! Watch the Official Trailer for Street Fighter, hitting theaters everywhere October 16.
Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!
Helmed by director Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter is set to bring the battle from the arcade to the big screen with Hadoukens, roundhouses, and all your favorite characters.
Does this feel like the Street Fighter movie you were hoping to get? How do you feel about some of the over-the-top CGI moves we are going to get in the game? What is the deepest cut character you were able to spot in the trailer? Do you like that this will focus more on Ken instead of the traditional Ryu we’ve had over the decades? Let’s hear all of those wonderful thoughts down in the comments here. I do have to say, I’m excited for this Street Fighter movie. It looks to have all of the fun I remember from the days in the arcade, and much more. I’ll add any of the other fun we have for the film as we head towards the launch out there, so please watch the site and all of our socials to see when that all goes live for you to enjoy.
