Mortal Kombat 1
A small sample of Homelander for Mortal Kombat 1 is here to see how The Boys are crossing into the Mortal Kombat world
The fifth DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 is on the way here soon to go along with the release of the new season of The Boys. Homelander is flying in to add another Superman style of character into the mix from NetherRealm Studios. This has to be one of the big characters that fans have been waiting for, and now we have a little taste of what is to come. Taste is a bit of a pun once you see it, but it still fits the Mortal Kombat theme very well. As long as he feels like he is a different character instead of just being a skin of a different one that was added in as DLC not too long ago on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC.
This is not much more than a basic showcase of the character coming to Mortal Kombat 1 with only a few nods to the fatalities and moves Homelander will have in the fights. So, do not get overly excited as of yet. We get to see the shots that we knew were coming with Homelander using laser eyes into someone’s head and tossing another into a plane. Fairly cool stuff while also showing off that Ferra from Mortal Kombat X will also be making a Kameo when this DLC drops out there too. It is odd to see Ferra without Tor, but it seems to work and we are getting another of the fun characters back in instead of another pallet-swapped ninja in the mix.

I do have to say that I am a little sad not to hear Antony Starr not providing the voice for Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1, but what we have here does feel like it fits. It feels more in line with the voice I had in my head when reading the comics but it still feels a little off given how The Boys has been dominating and setting head cannon for so many more now. It is a lot better than other voices that have been used in the past for Mortal Kombat guest fighters, so that is a bit of a plus here. It is just always hard to bring something new or different when someone feels like they brought the definitive version of the character to life in a different form.
Where do you sit on Homelander coming into Mortal Kombat in this way? Do you think that they nailed the look and tone of the character or does it not feel right there for you with such little to see? How different will he feel when compared to Omni Man or are they too close to the same that it might feel like a skin-swapped version of the characters? Fly on down to the comment section to leave your thoughts and then feel free to discuss it all. There will be more to come for Mortal Kombat 1, so please come on back to see and hear about all of that as if flows out there. Maybe we will even see another round of DLC characters too…
