Set out into the world of Hellboy Web Of Wyrd and see just how Hellboy is going to handle some of the challenges ahead
It has been a little weird here since the announcement for Hellboy Web Of Wyrd, as we were wondering how the game would actually play based on what we saw. There was a whole lot of comic panel style art out there from Upstream Arcade to help promote the game originally, but little as to how we would go through things. Then, there was a short bit from Good Shepherd Entertainment to keep us going that showed that it could be a mix of that and controlling Hellboy through some various 3D world settings. Now, it looks like we have a better answer with some full gameplay for the game as we wait for it to finally hit the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC. Sometime in the near future is the hope.
While not much more to go on for Hellboy Web Of Wyrd, here we do have a little under a minute of gameplay to look at for the game. It looks like it was captured on the Xbox and shows off how we will be doing just as we assumed. With the titular character moving about the world, loading up on ammo, and taking shots at the various supernatural threats out there. It is listed as a brawler, but the gameplay here does not feel like it is highlighting that all too much. I say that, as we get to see a punch of two from Hellboy here, but it does not flow as a typical brawler game would. I might have had a different idea of what we were going to get, but that does not mean the gameplay does not give us all a better idea. It just feels like it is going to be a slower kind of rogue-lite title more than the other ones that we have known before. Maybe the next big gameplay showing will better define it all.

Even though it is a little sparse on the full gameplay we would want, I do have to say I like the way that Hellboy Web Of Wyrd is looking. The art style is fun and I do enjoy the comic panels we get when pulling off moves or ending a fight. It is a little odd to have this voice actor doing the voice for Hellboy given how that has been built up for a while now. He does not sound as gruff or hardened here, and that is a little off-putting for me. I am sure I can get used to it just as I have for other IPs, but it is just something worth noting for now. Unless that is a different voice we are hearing here and we have yet to hear the character’s final version. There is still a lot of time for that to get built up and all.
