Hitman Misses The Original Mark In Terms Of Release Date

Hitman

Hitman has been delayed until March of 2016 but it is stated that this is so Hitman can launch with more content than originally planned

Well it looks like this is one contract that Agent 47 was not able to close on time as Hitman has been hit with the delayed stamp. It looks like Io Interactive has made up their mind to push the PS4, Xbox One, and PC release of Hitman out until March of 2016 sometime. All of this in the guise of wanting to add more content to Hitman‘s full release and not just rely on being able to update and add on as the life cycle of the next Hitman plays out. That was of course the idea when it still had its December release date that Square Enix had already written in semi-stone.

All of this comes from the official Hitman blog site where all of us fans have been hit with the solid letdown. At least in this let down it is because they don’t want to have everything be DLC that we have to wait for after we complete the missions included in the main Hitman edition. That is still the plan slightly but at least here it looks like we will be getting a fuller Hitman in terms of levels and then regular updates for the game afterwards and onwards. Kind of an interesting platform that Io Interactive is going for here.

In case you were curious as to why it is taking so much longer to get levels for Hitman built and how they want to be able to pad their time to make more, here is a look at the difference in size that we are getting Hitman here. Each of these levels are slated to be at least six times larger than one of the largest maps from Hitman Absolution so I guess it makes sense that they would need a bit more time. Or at least three month’s worth of more time to fill Hitman to the brim before the DLC kicks in.

Hitman — Scope

To give you a sense of the scale when it comes to our various locations, we’ve compared our Paris Showstopper mission to the largest level in Hitman: Absolution. As you can see, lots of challenges, plenty of space to set up death traps, and a huge supply of targets for Contracts mode.

How sad are you now that you know that Hitman will not be under the tree for this holiday season? Do you think this will be a great thing for Hitman or should Io Interactive tried to stick to the original plan? How many more missions and levels do you think will be added to the base version of Hitman now that they have the extra time to add things in? Let us know what you think in the comments below and let the discussion fly in that section. Hopefully we will get more gameplay for Hitman as we have to wait a bit longer. Of course when it is out there for the world to see we will have it all right here.
