Hunter Is On The Prowl In The Tunnels Of Metro 2039

Metro 2039

New gameplay for Metro 2039 is here, and we get to see Hunter running about the dark world of Metro 2039

The teams over at 4A Games and Deep Silver are coming in strong and fast for Metro 2039, as it has only been a short while since the announcement, and we are here with another big update for the game. An update that will show off the antagonist of the game, the hero of the game, a bit of the gameplay to expect, and when we might be seeing the game land on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC out there. February of 2027, for those who cannot wait to see what else Metro 2039 has to offer. As I said, that is only a little bit of the update that we have for the game, so let us all hunker in and see what new horrors we are going to find in the tunnels. It looks as if it will not be just the human element that we need to fear down there, even if that will be a big portion.

Even though it is listed as gameplay, a bit of a heads up on this new video for Metro 2039, it is only about half gameplay. The first half sets up the world a bit more, explaining who Hunter is and why we are going to be aiding him to end with all of his living. Hunter does happen to be the first Spartan and goes by a different name to the population, but that will not matter once the bullets start flying. Which is what most of the gameplay is here for Metro 2039. That is where we get to see more of the world and monsters roaming about the aftermath of things, even if it does look like many other first-person shooter games in the current state. I know that will change once we get the game in our hands, but the gameplay we do have feels a little basic when it comes to all of the other hype that has been built around the game up to now. You can see all of that for yourself below. Just make sure to keep all of that in mind as you are going through it all.

Metro 2039 — Gameplay

There’s a liar in these tunnels…

In the Xbox Games Showcase, 4A Games revealed their first full gameplay trailer for Metro 2039, featuring nearly three minutes of footage captured completely in-game. They’re also proud to let you know that the game will be in your hands in February 2027, where it will launch on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Epic Games Store.

4A Games knows the reveal left the community itching to see more gameplay, and with lots of questions about the world, the Stranger, Hunter, and more.

They called this trailer HUNTER for one reason – it’s all about him. In April, they revealed that their antagonist was not just “Führer”, but none other than the first Spartan himself, Hunter. Get your first in-game look at him, adorned in a decorated Novoreich uniform, a fascist perversion of the iconic Spartan armour. His image can be seen all over, his presence looming over the Metro in crumbling posters, flickering propaganda, and towering statues.

Gameplay was really what they wanted to show off here. Captured entirely in-game, they give glimpses into the diverse environments from the game, including many that directly inspired the nightmarish visions of our reveal trailer – from deadly wildlands to irradiated Moscow streets, struggling station communities, and the terrifying depths of the tunnels themselves.

Captured entirely in-game, with a blend of first-person shots and custom camera angles, fans can witness Metro 2039’s trademark mix of immersion, survival, stealth, violence, and horror. Everything that makes Metro, Metro, has returned, but there are some new features hinted at here too, from your first look at the Shatun weapon firing in anger, to new items, new mutant variants, and new ways to explore or take advantage of the environment.

Is this what you were expecting from the gameplay for Metro 2039, or were you hoping to see something more than just running and gunning? How will we be tied further into the Hunter story, or will he just be the next oppressive person out there with no history for us to link to? How will this game be able to stand out from all of the other shooter titles beyond an amazing story, or is that why you keep on taking a ride with this IP over all the others? Let us have those thoughts spilled out in the comment section down the page here. We will have a lot more for Metro 2039 as the gaming events keep on flowing out there. Please make sure to keep coming back to the website to see all of those, and follow all of our social channels to ensure that you are not missing any of those big updates that we keep dropping out there.
