Injustice 2
The Injustice 2 release date rumors have been put to rest as Injustice 2 now has an official release date for the Americas
It looks like all of those rumors for Injustice 2 releasing on March 28th have been put to rest. Not only has NetherRealm Studios‘ game director stepped out to state that the dates listed online were false, but he went one step further and gave us all the actual date; something that we wish would happen every time a huge rumor crops up. None the less though, it looks like Injustice 2 will be hitting the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16th of this year. At least that is the release date in the American region of the world as the other regions were left out of all of this release date fun. Don’t think it has been canceled as a world-wide release because of this.
I am sure that Injustice 2 will most likely be coming to other markets around this new release date with May 18th being a solid option for it, but it just hasn’t been released to the public in the many different forms that the companies and powers that be like to handle all of this. Although it does seem a bit strange that Mr. Boon revealed the date considerably more in advance than the official company handling all of the press here. I’m going to go on a limb and just say he was more excited about getting his baby out that those holding the reigns and up the ladder. Just an assumption though.

It does seem a bit odd that we are still sitting and waiting for more character announcements for Injustice 2 given how all of the other titles that NetherRealm Studios has put out usually had most of their cast defined and shown off before a release date was announced. Currently we are sitting at eight revealed and the last time I checked the character select screen had space for twenty-eight characters. That is at least if all of them are to be filled before Injustice 2 launches and not just placeholders for DLC characters. Mortal Kombat X did have twenty-four to start off with so the extra four shown isn’t too far out of the realms of possibilities given the wide franchise and universe that there is to pick from here.
Normally a release date announcement though isn’t all that exciting but when you look at what we have for Injustice 2 already and the relatively short amount of time before it launches, it looks like the next few months are going to be filled with all kinds of information for the game. Eighteen weeks from now the game will be landing and that’s a little over a new character announcement per week if that is how NetherRealm wanted to roll here. That’s also excluding any further information on the new systems coming to Injustice 2 and a minor look at the main story we will be getting. Not to mention any of the DLC that I am sure is in the works. Exciting times here for fans of the franchise and the studio outside of just the release date.
How glad are you to see that Injustice 2 has been given a solid release date now? Do you find it a bit odd to have that before many of the other characters given how the studio has run these things in the past? Who else do you think will be joining in the fight and what other new mechanics do you think will still be announced leading up to release? Let us know and feel free to discuss it all down in the comments. For more on Injustice 2 and any of the characters yet to be announced, you’ll want to stick it out here as we’ll keep the information train running as we get more and more details for the game.
