It Looks Like Injustice 2 Will Be Bringing Darkseid In Via DLC

It’s been spotted via the Injustice 2 pre-order page that Darkseid will be a playable DLC character for Injustice 2 at launch

Last week we got official word that Injustice 2 would be hitting the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16^th here. Then we ended the week with a nice little tease from NetherRealm Studios that we would be getting another big reveal this week as well. But before all of that, it looks like we have another “leak” of sorts as the pre-order page for Injustice 2 was spotted listing out another character coming to the game via some day-one DLC for those who pre-order the game. That character has been seen in the first title in a smaller way but now it looks like Darkseid will be mixed into the fight and not just via a level transition animation. Yes, that I said Darkseid there.

This new information comes from a photo snapped of the PlayStation store’s pre-order page for Injustice 2 where the character is stated as being playable in the game at launch. At least it looks like he’s playable if you pre-order the game. This of course wouldn’t be a new practice by NetherRealm as it was done with Goro at the launch of MKX but that could also mean that Darkseid has little to nothing to do with the story mode of the game just like Goro. At least that would make sense unless they really wanted to upset fans by having Darkseid in Injustice 2 from the start and have him locked out unless you pre-ordered. This all could also just mean that he could be unlockable by all and for free in the game but the pre-orders get it at launch.

This news has also spawned, pun intended, a lot of other talk about further characters coming to Injustice 2 and a few that have sprung up have been King Shark and Captain Boomerang. There doesn’t seem to be any merit for any of the other characters as of yet but it all points to people expecting there to be tie-ins for the TV and Film universes that DC has going on. King Shark being in The Flash and the Captain in Suicide Squad. I’m not sure why that seems to hold any weight or merit given how all three “universes” have been kept separate and not really impacted each, but those are the things buzzing out there. Not out of question given this is all DC in the end, but not the best of arguments like we have here for Darkseid.
